Gotta agree with the Succession pick. Just finished it last night and it's so good.

Slant including Handmaid’s Tale makes me feel less crazy for enjoying it so much. I’m baffled as to how overlooked it was

I really did not watch too much this year. First Reformed and The Death of Stalin were the only real standouts before I jumped back in this week. Film Comment and Slant are great guides for what I missed, and so far they have delivered. Let the Sunshine In is very different from Denis, but nonetheless is an honest portrayal of the realities of dating in middle age. The Ballad of Buster Scruggs was uneven, and I wish the story with the widow was a full movie, but it was overall a pleasant experience.

I was not expecting Support the Girls to be so revered. I also need to see First Reformed

Hereditary is still my number one, but I still have quite a few to catch up on before the year ends. Also felt like it was a huge year for new shows and better seasons overall for my returning favorites.

I have been putting off Zama for a while now. Everyone praises Martel's work, but I still don't understand it. I watched The Headless Woman three times and still couldn't see what everyone thought was so moving about it.

I am using the Film Comment, Slant, and IndieWire lists to catch up on the movies of the year. I really don't want to have to sit through Paddington 2, Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Mission Impossible, but I guess I must soldier through.

As far as worst films of the year, candidates so far include The Meg, Ready Player One, Jurassic Park 5, and 15:17 to Paris. If I was making my best films list now, it would either be Let the Sunshine In, First Reformed, or Roma, but I still have so much to go.
