Alright, I'm still fighting with myself on this, but I gotta go with the developmental "need" over the value role player. While that role player would help, we're not terrible at that position. If I had a 5th round pick, I'd take him here and the developmental prospect next round. But we are seriously lacking line depth, so I can't miss out on taking SOMETHING at right tackle for Marrone to play with - round 6 is too late. Jaguars select Brandon Parker, OT, North Carolina A&T Our RT (Jermey Parnell) is awful, our LT (Cam Robinson) performed well but was a rookie last year... and our one backup swing tackle (Josh Wells) isn't a strong run blocker, so much as a makeshift pass protector who always panics but somehow still awkwardly gets in the way. Parker is 6'8" with 35 inch arms, and at least has a solid foundation / starting point to work from. His dad was a coach and a college left tackle so there's a football background. He's got a strong punch that he usually times up well, and despite a higher center of gravity, does make an effort to stay wide and keep his knees bent to avoid reach / balance issues. I don't really like his footwork but a Day 3 OT is always gonna have glaring weaknesses. His size, athleticism, and strength all check out - he has the physical ability to become a starter eventually - it's just a matter of coaching up his feet to be in sync with his fairly well schooled hand placement. Even if he doesn't beat Parnell out on the roster, we still need a backup RT.
Jags draft through 4 rounds: WR D.J. Moore CB Mike Hughes DE Josh Sweat SLB Tegray Scales RT Brandon Parker Sour taste in my mouth, because I didn't know Hughes was accused of sexual assault, if i knew that when we started I wouldn't have traded up & this draft becomes way different. But talent, value & need wise, goddamn. I'd trade Dante Fowler to have this.
Saints: S Justin Reid OLB Darius Leonard DE Breeland Speaks Didn't have a second round pick originally - but getting into the upper second and third round with that trade down was almost like having a 1 and a 2 though. I made damn sure to get that kind of value out of those picks. I also have a third round grade on Breeland Speaks for an aggressive 3-4 team, that rushes with their ends more than it asks them to two-gap. Decent haul.
Minkah Fitzpatrick Maurice Hurst Ian Thomas Kalen Ballage Scott Quessenberry thats 3 starters from day 1. I will take that.
49ers: Harold Landry Isaiah Wynn Malik Jefferson Equanimeous St. Brown Isaac Yiadom Ogbonnia Okoronkwo
Bears: Tremaine Edmunds Carlton Davis Deon Cain Desmond Harrison B Cardinals: Billy Price Courtland Sutton Mason Rudolph Jessie Bates A- Chargers: Da'Ron Payne Tim Settle Josey Jewell Marcus Allen Joseph Noteboom B- because I missed Harrison Phillips being available when I took Tim Settle
Seahawks: Derrius Guice Dante Pettis (and La’el Collins via Earl Thomas) JC Jackson Duke Ejiofor Chris Herndon
Bills: Baker Mayfield Leighton Vander Esch Frank Ragnow Anthony Averett Harrison Phillips Tre'Quan Smith Fred Warner Flaming hot fire
I plugged every hole I set out to except backup RB, but I don't think the Bills will actually handle that in the draft this year anyway. QB, interior OL, ILB, OLB, DL depth, CB depth
Guice and Pettis are such perfect fits in Seattle. And finally a legit RT to help Russ. The offense would be dope. I’d hate my life.
Forgot I had the Racial Slurs: Vita Vea Christian Kirk Duke Dawson They don’t have a lot of picks but that’s still a solid draft.
