With the 28th pick in the 2018 Draft, the Dallas Cowboys select Justin Reid, S, Stanford. In 2013, the Cowboys traded out of the pick used to draft Eric Reid so that they could select center Travis Frederick. Now the Cowboys do the opposite, and trade up to draft Eric's brother. Dallas needs versatile playmaking defenders and Justin Reid would be a perfect pick to help revamp Dallas's defense. Dallas could've MAYBE waited until 40, but when you see your guy, you go get your guy, and I think Justin Reid could be a gamechanger for this team.
That wasn't Randall's pick but I do have Reid on my radar for the Jags in the 1st as well. But I've got a couple guys ahead of him.
Jaguars select D.J. Moore, WR, Maryland. ASJ signing certainly influenced this pick in the direction it went. Hes 5'11" and we need a better big target than Moncrief, but I don't care. Dude knows how to high point the football and fight for position. I love his route running, tenacious second and third efforts to get open, ability to slip tackles, confidence at the catch point... Just knows what hes doing. He is somewhere between Golden Tate and Steve Smith, maybe not a WR1 but he will take average throws in traffic / decently contested situations and turn them into chunks of yards, exactly what Bortles needs. Id have taken him for Atlanta but Hardy is sorta same playing style and I was thinking of Sutton as Julio's protege. Plus Keenan McCardell, now our WR coach who has a close working relationship with Coughlin due to being a Jags WR in the past, coached Moore at Maryland. I'm sure hes on our minds with ARob out of the picture. Give me Moore and Cole outside, Lee in the slot, Moncrief in the red zone and in long passing situations only.
Round 1, Pick 30 - Minnesota Vikings select Mike Gesicki, TE, Penn State This pick is a bit out of left field but I think Vikings can afford to make a luxury pick. If I was picking based on needs I would go with Wynn. But I view Gesicki as a game changer and he complements Rudolph well. With this pick the Vikings have a dynamic duo at WR, TE, and RB. Kirk Cousins will have plenty of weapons and no excuses. He will have everything he needs to lead this team to another deep playoff run.
If we didn't sign ASJ it was Gesicki all the way. But Fournette remains number one priority and you cant call yourself a smashmouth running team with two TE who don't block. Your "big" singleback and I-form sets just wouldn't work and you'd have to adapt a more finesse / zone blocking scheme... which would not mesh with Fournette's style and vision.
I'm thinking Vikings could line up Rudolph on the line with Gesicki in the slot. Diggs and Thielen on the outside.
No, but it made Moore the better choice I still love Gesicki and would easily take him if I didn't love any of the WR. But I do "love" Moore as a late first round get.
