My plan is to pretty much watch every game this year but teams I’m gonna be interested in following are:

Canucks
Sharks
Wild
Maple Leafs
Sabres
Flyers
Lightning

 

The Wild?

 

They’re the closest team to me geographically currently (Blackhawks probably closer but fuck em) and I think their logo is clever. I swear I didn’t know the outline was a bear for the first two years of seeing the damn thing, so I’ll always feel a small connection and appreciation to the franchise.

Not saying these are good reasons to pay attention to them, but reasons nonetheless.

 

I’ve always had a soft spot for the Wild. I absolutely love their logo and jerseys.

Young up and coming team. Also the team that is gonna be closest to “us” (Seattle) once they start up. Everyone seems to think Vancouver will be great in 2-3 years so I wanna see what’s happening now and pay close attention.

Also, beautiful city.

 

I actually think the Wild are my second favorite western conference team after the Sharks

Most frustrating thing about learning players in hockey is that I hear names on podcasts and then see names in articles and rarely understanding that it’s the same person because the spelling and pronunciation are waaaaaaaaay off

Last year during a random playoff game featuring two teams I dont care about was when I realized that my enjoyment and fascination with hockey had surpassed all other sports. I was glued to my seat, unmoving for the entire third period.

And here I am tonight watching a fantastic football game and yet it’s mostly background noise as I read hockey previews on The Athletic.
