I have a feeling Kesler’s chances of playing on the remainder of his contract are slim to zero now so he’ll just be a LTIR fixture. Rico assumes Kes’ role at a million less and Sam Steel makes the team out of camp

Jankowski was a solid pick for the Flames all things considered. This upcoming season will only be his first full one as a pro and I have high hopes for him.

At least they hit big on a 6th rounder. I never understood why they traded Goldobin in the deal for Hansen. I realize Goldobin isn’t exactly a phenomenal NHLer, but that trade seemed like an overpay from day 1. I think the only key to note is that the Sharks drafted late in the 1st, in a spot where statistically you’re most likely to get a bottom 6 forward or fringe NHL player, and that is what they got. And honestly, while 2 of 8 isn’t great odds, that happens a lot in the NHL, and they turned some of those players into packages that brought other pieces to the team, whether it was Hansen, or Hoffman turned into more draft picks, or Sadowy dealt to Detroit for a pick.

I know that Ken Holland has said multiple times that most drafts only lead to 1-2 NHL regulars, and anything more than that is considered a bonus. It looks like Sharks just pretty much has an average draft, or even slightly below average.

 

Goldobin stinks, someone will probably get him on waivers in a few months

 

7m seems surprisingly reasonable. Getting Trouba under 7 would be huge.
