top 5 teams with most cap space taken up by 2 most expensive players heading into the 19-20 season with an expectation of the cap being $83M (and recent articles make it seem like it could only be $81M)

• Toronto - 25.7.3% of cap
• Edmonton - 25.3% of cap
• Los Angeles - 25.3% of cap
• Dallas - 23.3% of cap
• Buffalo - 22.9% of cap

can make sense of why 3 of these teams is on here: Toronto has 2 top 5 centers, Edmonton has the best player in the game, Los Angeles signed their guys either before / during their cup runs. Dallas being this high was super fucking surprising.

i think Buffalo will have a lot of pressure on them this year, especially now with the Skinner extension. and i'm not saying it was a bad deal or they shouldn't have signed him, it would have been dumb not to get him locked up. you can't replace that production on a whim, but the fanbase is gonna squeal if they shit the season, complaining about the money being "wasted" on Skinner which is gonna suck to listen to.

 

Vegas certainly has to feel better about the contract they gave Stone after seeing what Skinner got today.

not surprised. not sure how many teams would want to pay him 8M a year and he probably isn't gonna look / play as good as he does when he doesn't have Crosby, one of the best players ever, next to him. Minnesota trying to trade for him was fucking stupid and Pitt did them a favor.

He doesn’t usually play with Crosby IIRC. Plus it’s not like he was a nobody who suddenly started scoring goals when he came to Pittsburgh. He was regularly posting 30+ goals with the likes of Tyler Bozak as his center. Also, Toronto retained salary so whoever trades for him is only on the hook for 6.8 million per year.
