Idk why they don't just like up everyone's deals by the amount the raise the cap to every year, no one should be getting way less than anyone else just because they aren't an FA at this time.

 

damn I didn't even realize there were 9 players making $10+m now

 

I think marner is probably smart because in 2-3 seasons 10m won't be like the top tier deal anyway

 

When you look at the lockouts they all revolve around the CBA, specifically regarding player salaries, caps, and fees. When more and more players start demanding higher salaries, the owners try to push back when it comes time to renegotiating the CBA saying they need to lower salaries etc etc. When the players demand more, they get locked out.

When's the last time a top tier FA even went to the devils?

 

whens the last time the Devils had:

an exciting young team
basically the most cap space in the league
the chance to play with top picks Hischier or Hughes

 

I mean, they lost the shattenkirk sweeps to the tanking rangers

 

they did but Shattenkirk basically came out and said that if it was any other team he would have went to NJ. Devils offered more money its just he wanted to play for his hometown team

It actually worked out for NJ because they signed Butcher a month later who I'd much rather have going forward

I just want the devils to actually compete for once, somehow the rangers are gonna be in another cup before they are and they're way further away from being good

 

if NJ can somehow add a top 4 LHD via trade along with Jack Hughes and Ty Smith stepping in they should be able to be pretty good pretty quickly

Hopefully they can get at least league average goaltending

looks like he signed his 7-year deal in 2017-18 so that would be Dubas, i believe. or at least co-Dubas.

 

It was old regime. Dubas might’ve been AGM at the time (can’t actually remember his prior role) but Lou Lam was at the helm when Zaits cashed in.

 

I like dubas cause he's a cool dude but I'm not totally sure he's a genius just yet

 

He's a great talent evaluator imo but he's a dogfuck of a contract negotiator.
