damn, there are only 9 players in the league this year making 10M+ (i think, if i'm using CapFriendly correctly) and Marner wants to be in that camp too, huh? how many teams even currently have the space (or close to it) to sign him to that kind of deal?

 

Whenever stuff like this starts happening I know a lockout is coming soon. Ugh.

 

i'm gonna fire up NHL 19 tomorrow and see what he wants in the game and see what i can do for the Leafs and pass it on.

 

do you mean in terms of players wanting a higher salary cap so they can get higher contracts?

from what i've been hearing / reading, there doesn't seem to be any major issues that would lead to a lockout or have either side really unhappy or not budging. and with Seattle coming along i've seen a handful of people "in the know" talk about the league wouldn't want to close down and lose a year before they start (i.e. only one season would be played before they join instead of two and what does that do for protecting players, etc.)

 

There's no way the leafs can realistically afford three $11+ million forwards
