I feel like he has a good reputation and the Sabres could have done much worse?

 

Ralph Krueger is a fine coach. A lot of Oilers fans wish that he was never fired for a good reason.

 

It came together quickly so I haven't had a chance to read up on him much but it sounds like they basically fired him because they didn't want to lose Dallas Eakins.

It really seems like he has a solid reputation and is very keen on analytics and wants to have a strong staff and delegate to his assistants which is encouraging to me. I am assuming he will keep Steve Smith on board to coach the defense, as he was just brought in by Phil Housley last year but was also on staff with Krueger in Edmonton. Hopefully they can get a nice upgrade over Davis Payne to run the PP.

 

Fiala and Hischier have had great chemistry in this tournament

I really want the Sabres to get over the hump so I hope it works out. I loved the team when they were killing it early in the season. They just need to find some consistency.

And lol Dallas Eakins. Another self-inflicted Edmonton disaster.

 

I keep thinking about the Holland as GM and it’s just seems so meh but also it makes sense.

I can’t think of a single good potential gm unless they go wild card and hire some analytic mind.

but also they need someone to fix this team fast which I don’t know if I can see Holland doing unless they manage to hit in the draft and free agency this off season.

 

They're still getting through the mess Tim Murray left behind unfortunately. He drafted poorly so there aren't many guys ready to come up. He signed guys long term that are now anchors (Moulson is expiring, Bogosian and Okposo are still here and untradable). But I hope they can shed some fat somewhere and keep getting better
