Sharks’ goaltending is historically bad for Stanley Cup contender

 

Hellebuyck got his first shutout of the season lol.

honestly it’s truly amazing how many fans blame the sharks defense for why jones is so bad. I can’t tell if this fan base is just so desperate for a good goaltender that they have themselves fooled or if that one post season really made them think he is elite.

 

I'm still reeling from the Howard hate. Like, imagine looking at his entire career here and thinking that somehow Howard was the problem with the Wings.

 

He's really turned his game around the last few years. This is Sharks inverse where the goaltending is good 90% of the time yet the defense is always horrendous

 

Our defense has been an absolute trainwreck since Lidstorm retired. Like, a black hole level of bad

 

Yep, and Ouellete (sp?), Sproul, Marchenko, etc. never panned out lol. Hopefully the next batch of prospects do or Trouba/Karlsson/someone good signs as a FA

I mean... he’s just been a pretty ok for his entire career. Injury problems and inconsistencies have always been a Howard problem. He breaks down late in the year, especially after coming back from injuries. It doesn’t help that he literally lost the starting job a few years back and had to work hard to earn it back. I don’t have a problem with him coming back personally- one year deal, no goalie ready to take over. Howard just has been the goalie through a lot of disappointment and realistically not a huge amount of success.

 

I'm not too surprised about Markstrom. That guy is getting peppered every night lol.
We need Byfuglien + Morrissey back in the lineup.
