Has Backes been that bad? This bums me out but doesn’t surprise me. The writing was on the wall his last year with us he was about done.

 

He was actually pretty good playing with Nash and Heinen last year but he’s on pace for less points than Lucic. He can’t make anything happen out there

 

I don't know how he posted decent numbers last year. Guy looked completely washed.

you know what tho, same applies for the Flyers last night.

 

Backes always played that type of enforcer role with the blues but he would set up shop in front of the net and get rebounds like no ones business to help with offense. I haven't watched him since he left but there was a few times before they had the spotter for concussion that he was clearly wobbly on the ice. I can't believe any team would ask him to take on that role with his history but the dude plays with his heart and not his head so I'm not surprised at all that he accepted that role no questions asked. I just worry about this story will end up years down the road.

*sigh* I remember when the Flames had a solid lead on the Sharks for first in the West. It was fun while it lasted.

We've had similar goalie issues over the season to the Sharks but the scoring has dried up lately whereas the Sharks have only gotten more dangerous lately.

 

I have always had a small grudge against the Sharks due to 2004 Playoff related reasons. My elementary school principal's son was a very late draft pick of the Sharks (never played) so he cheered them on over announcements in character as 'Ms. Sharky' when the entire school, and town tbh, was going all in for the Flames (it was an incredibly bizarre, obnoxious character).

HOWEVER, I have always respected how consistently competitive you guys have been over the years and if it can't be the Flames, I wouldn't be upset if the Sharks made the Finals. Pray for Martin Jones.
