The problem is that the disrespect comes only because the isles are winning. If they were out of a playoff spot it'd be all "we miss you" and not "we don't need you".

Also any fan of the game over like the age of 25 that boos a star player who left or like wishes ill on them needs to rethink priorities. Put it this way, your best friend spends ten of his best years working a shit job with trash management then he finally opts to leave for a job in his hometown which is on the rise. You gonna shit talk him when he visits because his old job finally turned things around (maybe)?

Athletes are employees, they should do what's best for themselves and their families, sports fans should learn that...or just continue being human garbage.

 

Did Toronto really have like an appreciation night / special call out for Tavares at home yesterday because he got booed a few nights before against the Islanders???

Phil Housley is a very bad hockey coach. A team built to lose on purpose was able to win back to back games more frequently than either of the teams he has coached. Each of the teams he has coached have gone through a stretch of over 40% of the length of the season where they were unable to win TWO GAMES IN A ROW. TWO.

 

Nino Nidereitter has picked up 9 goals and 8 assists for 17 points in the 18 games he’s played as a Hurricane so far.

For all of the shit we got for the trades we made over the summer, I will never shut up about this one.

 

Housley is trash and wasting so many players. Unbelievable that the Sabres are going to miss the playoffs this year.

 

I agree with this, but nothing is for certain. When LBJ came back to Cleveland the first time he got treated worse than Tavares and that Cavs team was shit. And he was literally the home town kid who should have been given the “thank you” treatment.

Also, I think people will forever see booing as cathartic, as right or wrong as it is.

You could also use your example about the friend and the new job as a “you wouldn’t do that if it was a rival company”. If you were friends with someone that left your company to work for a competitor that was trying to beat you, a handful of them would be upset.

Booing is one thing, it’s harmless and will forever be in sports.

Death wishes, wishing ill will (outside of like “I hope he has a bad game”) to him or family or friends and all that nonsense has no place, that’s for sure.
