On a second look, he... didn't do all that much? He is too old and fragile to do much harm -- his decrepit frame didn't target the head on the initial check and his jab got the misconduct it deserved. Then he just mounted Joseph and stayed there. I think it was a case of the justice being meted out in-game.

The real punishment keeps him on the ice and lets him humiliate himself for another... five years.

 

i've read a lot of people on Twitter saying that he probably didn't get suspended because he didn't really do anything aside from the take down. "if he wanted to hurt him or send a message, he definitely could have done that. he was just policing and protecting teammates". not taking sides in it because i don't really know what happened before / don't know Lucic from my next door neighbor, but those types of statements seem true. he knocks him down (an unnecessary hit, yes) but he doesn't throw any punches or elbows or whatever, and he definitely could have if that was his intention.

okay, i'd rather watch the "commercial break in progress" screen on NHL.TV for all commercial breaks instead of the same 3 they constantly show that all contain hockey players apparently reading out loud for the first time in their lives. yeeeesh.
