He signed a bridge deal for $6 mln/2 years but Saad had more cost certainty at $6 mln/4 years into the coming season. Panarin would have been due much large raise (and is now). However, this has, how you say, not really worked out yet like everyone hoped..

 

damn. that is crazy to think about. granted, i don't know how good Panarin was when Chicago had him, but damn that's crazy to think that they had him the same time as Toews and Kane and others. shit.

I mean personally I think its lazy to just bring back an old jersey instead of attempting to design a new one which is why I'm glad the Ducks kinda met half way on that one but to each their own I guess.

don't remember the article or podcast i was listening to today, but someone mentioned that it was curious about the Pekka Rinne deal. two more years and they have Saros signed as well.

but what happens in summer of 2020...

Seattle expansion!

and teams can only protect one goalie, right? Granted Rinne will be 38/39 so i wonder if Seattle gets him (hope not, 38/39 is oooooooold and he'd only be around for a year or two at most and i imagine then he'd just retire)

He has a NMC in his new deal, so if the expansion draft takes place in 2020 the Preds must use a protection slot on him. Unsure if he can waive it, though I doubt the Seattle team would have much interest at that stage of his career. The scarier thing is that forcing Saros to be exposed. That gives me nightmares.
