Well the only part of tonight that I didn't enjoy was the part where Zac Rinaldo is still a Predator and got time on the ice. Other than that, great first full night of hockey!

I am on the "sign Nylander" side of the fence. Mainly because I got a Potvin player Tee for my birthday from a dodgy Asian site, and they sent me a Nylander instead (I assume they saw Leafs 29 and grabbed whatever).

Funny timing for Holtby (less funny for Caps fans) - he wore a new, customized chest protector tonight:

Much of the feedback in the goalie gear group was "goalies hate change, he's going to let in a bunch". And, welp...

    1) Yeah, this means nothing in the grand scheme - playing the Pens doesn't help

    2) Less important to most people but needs to be said - Kenesky is an long-running but small company, and makes bomb-proof stuff. The fact that he is wearing their stuff instead of the ubiquitous big company C/As, he became even cooler in my book.

This is a suggestion that the Leafs trade William Nylander for Chris Tanev. lol

    Same.

I picked last. First 4 picks were Karlsson, Malkin, Kuznetsov, and Hellebuyck.

Getting the goalies out of the way quick, eh? How does your scoring system work for goalies?

Dubnyk is my backup but I got Talbot as well. I may have been the only one in the league to get 3 starting goalies TBH.

I don't know how exactly the scoring works but I get a shit load of points for goalies that win a lot. This was from last night.

Don't be impatient, you'd be wanting the most money you could receive if you went to a contract negotiation as well. I don't think this is really a big deal at all. I want to point back to this Ian Tulloch article on The Athletic (if you're a subscriber) that notes (with comparable) that the longer negotiations go into October, the less leverage Nylander will have: As an RFA, William Nylander's going to be underpaid. But the...

Then again, there's this article today (yesterday?) from Tyler Dellow: Dellow: With every passing day, leverage shifts away from...

Holdouts like Nylander's aren't that uncommon league-wide though. I bet that this is more than a two-way street than most holdouts as well, since Leafs brass want to set a precedent for Matthews and Marner with this contract.

    Regular

Nylander is getting paid to play hockey, not to build a winning team. If his future salary affects their ability to sign and re-sign players, that's a Maple Leafs problem, not a Nylander problem.

If you designate Cal Clutterbuck an alternate captain you know your team is going places.
