Him and Watson played a handful of good games last year and the media/people love to have knee jerk reactions as if GOAT potential players came out every year.

 

Well both of them SHOULD be good. Jimmy G will be once SF has an actual offense. Watson will be once Andy Reid makes history by coaching two teams at the same time.

It’s just what he has shown on film that impresses me. I can’t express enough how much he immediately elevated a bottom 3 skill position group in the NFL.

He looked way more ready to handle a complex west coast offense than a first year starting QB should. Unlike Ryan Mallett / Matt Cassel / Jacoby Brissett, Jimmy actually looked like he learned from Tom Brady and the Patriots offense.

It had been a long time since I’ve seen a new QB go through progressions that fast. Even other great up and comers like Luck and Wentz are more so known for holding the ball too long and being skilled improvisers instead. Jimmy is polished mechanically, has one of the quickest releases in the NFL and very tightly controlled footwork.

Not only that but he shows a high understanding of touch and putting the proper arc on the ball, very consistent timing/anticipation (he “throws receivers open”), looks off defenders downfield... and on top of all that he’s really accurate on the run with above average speed for a QB. He really has the whole package. SF’s roster is way behind the curve but they went 7-0 pretty much completely becuase of him once he became the starter.

Minnesota fucked him up. He had one (1) bad game. Outside of that he’s 8-2... and in the KC loss, before his injury and a holding penalty that negated a TD he threw, he had cut a 24-3 deficit down to 38-31.

Most of it just seemed like people appealing to authority with Belichick rather than forming their own opinions.

 

Eh. Tbh I watched all his games and the hype is justified. He looked very, very promising. Not like, he’s flinging the ball and defenses aren’t ready for it. Not in a flashy way.

In terms of playing style and scheme, making decisions, he’s already like a seasoned vet. He can respond to multiple different styles of defense, and he is able to compensate for his receivers flat out not being as good as the CB guarding them.

You can say that doesn't matter but I think the NFL equation is "hot + is QB + white = lots of BS roughing the passer calls that benefit the QB and allow more big play opportunities"

 

Idk I've heard a lot of complaints from Green Bay fans and so far they've played Kirk Cousins and Alex Smith

I think the clay calls have been questionable, but we have also had a decent amount of calls in our favor in the past also. It evens out.

Also jimmy g is a fun story because he has seemingly changed the 9ers offense with not so well known names.

 

George Kittle, a TE2 on most teams, is literally his best receiver.

Goodwin, his WR1, couldn’t even keep the WR3 job in Buffalo.

They are running the ball with Matt Brieda, Alfred Morris, and fullback Kyle Juscyzck is basically their third down back.

You can’t make this shit up lol that offense is BAD and Jimmy G is 8-2 with it
