There's no reason to take less than the 3rd they get for not resigning him in compensatory. And the reality that they might have to play against him this year (and in future years) makes taking less than that foolish.

There are basically two things at play.

    1. A team can sign Bell for more than the franchise tag. So, as Ive mentioned before, if someone wants to get clever, they could offer Bell what is functionally his signing bonus this season. The Texans have $22mil in cap space and can free up another $7mil or so by not having Lamar Miller next year. So, they could trade for Bell and pay him $22mil this year as down-payment on his future deal. This is especially relevant for a team like Indy that has $50+ mil in cap space.

    2. Bell has no incentive to go anywhere. Or return before Week 11. Staying in Pittsburgh likely guarantees he doesnt even have to suit up this year, and he still gets paid like $5mil. So a team that wants him has to WANT him

The difference is, the Patriots offense is not the Chiefs offense haha. Their inefficiency on third down without any starting receivers is a huge reason why the Lions controlled the clock. Pats also never kept the ball.

Patriots offense is going to look so incredibly different when Gordon and Edelman hit the field. I really do think Edelman may be the most underrated WR in the game.

the Chiefs offense obviously looks unstoppable at this point in time, but they are also giving up 30+ points per game. I don't know how sustainable that is as far as being an elite team

Chiefs can have a great offense but ranking dead last in DVOA isn’t going to cut it in January.

    Edit: beat to the punch

Obviously the Chiefs have the better offense right now but that has nothing to do with a team trying to play a ball control game and use as much clock as you can lol. It's sometimes boring as hell to watch but a win is a win. When you get into a shootout with quick scores against the Chiefs that's a recipe for disaster

This Chiefs team is the exact opposite of the Alex Smith years. A very good to elite defense with no offensive fire power to now an offense that looks unstoppable but a defense that can't stop anybody. Like Brandon said that shit isn't going to cut it in the playoffs

You know the playoffs are completely different from the regular season, it's much more ball control focused and typically a lot more defensive minded, that's pretty much the motto of every single team you just listed. Obviously the Chiefs offensive talent is 10000000x better than all of those teams but that's probably not the game you're going to see come January

I'm also an extreme Chiefs hater so I will say whatever nonsense to discredit them every chance I get heh. Their offense is legit though

While true, I feel like that's more ceremonial than actually necessary. Reid is currently doing things we've been told aren't realistic in the NFL. I fully expect him to walk into the playoffs and play it like a normal game.

Because we should be consistently good but we play down to worse competition. Something id think a Steeler fan would fully understand lol
