I want to be like, one of the NFL’s gatekeepers - gotta get through US if your team wants to represent the AFC. I want to be the biggest test for any upcoming QB, like Jimmy G and Mahomes, maybe we’ll be a tough matchup for Wentz as well.

I want to have that kind of generationally dominant defense. I hope Caldwell is able to balance salary cap with aggressive team building, cause I’m in love with our roster and it is my biggest hope we can make it sustainable.

 

I mean...the first thing you guys gotta do is get through the current gatekeepers. And a week 2 matchup isn't it.

Any time our offense doesn’t play like total dog shit we have a good chance at victory.

Jack/Smith shut down RBs & Mobile QBs, Ramsey can man-cover anybody, Smith/Gipson nearly blanked out Gronkowski, Church has repeatedly been there right away whenever Jack/Smith miss a tackle, Campbell shuts down like 40% of running plays by himself, and QBs have about 2.9 seconds before Malik Jackson blows the play up from the interior. Teams don’t really scare me anymore because we win a lot of matchups on the defensive side of the ball. There’s almost never a threat of lots of points being scored, only a threat of our offense taking a giant shit.

 

Yes, your team is very good. But to declare yourselves the gatekeepers, or be focusing on years of dominance when you haven't even made it to the bowl yet feels premature.

 

I didn’t declare us the gatekeepers haha just said I want to become one of those teams. I hope for us to continue ascending basically.

We aren’t there yet but that defense still hasn’t yet reached its ceiling of potential.

 

Just saying, KC was amazing last year too. Until they weren’t.

Weird, cause Pittsburgh is definitely one of the "premiere" teams and they never do anything.

They are the new Reid Eagles. Always close but no cigar. Their last truly great playoff run was like 10 years ago.

The Ravens are to them what the Titans are to us - a worse team that gives them fits and plays spoiler. I remember multiple disappointing AFC wild card games where the Steelers would play like trash against

I actually forgot they played a SB agaisnt the Packers in 2011. More recent than I thought. I kept thinking about the one vs the Cardinals in 2008.

Steelers are good but a little overrated when you consider Ben ain’t what he used to be, and has bad games at inopportune times more often than he did 5 years ago. Brown is Brown but they’re gonna have to work harder in games on offense without Bell.

 

The Steelers are toast. They should be hitting the reset button any year now.

The Chiefs are playing lights out right now on offense, teams need to take a page out of the Lions (lol) book and watch what they did last night to New England, play a ball control game and keep their offense off the field. Their defense is pretty bad and it's clearly easy to move the ball on them, you gotta milk that clock baby

 

They shouldn't accept less than a 3rd because that's what they will get as a comp pick I believe

 

Me and my boss were talking about this. If you're say the Jets, do you call up the Steelers and say "we'll give you a 4th if he plays or a 5th if he never shows up"

They have oodles of cap space, and the hope of getting an incredibly dynamic running back to help out your young rookie QB has to be enticing.
