Honestly I think Ben will learn his lesson, but the real reason we beat the Steelers again is becuase we will have Fournette and they won’t have Bell.

A healthy Steelers team is absolutely very capable of overcoming the Jags. I give full credit. But we will be able to control the game and the clock just a little bit more, and make Ben a little more under pressure and impatient, becuase of the RB matchup.

 

Bell needs to report by week 10. They play the Jags in week 11. Bell + Conner = VICTORY

 

Lee is not good. Cole outplayed him last year.

Barely is still outplaying him. An UDFA rookie bench receiver should not outplay your WR1 under any circumstances. Lee is not good haha. Westbrook and Cole fill Lee's role far better.

 

It's only been one game, but I've watched this coaching staff refuse to change for nearly 10 years, so I'm expecting us to have a top five pick next year.

 

Unless that UDFA bench receiver is actually good? Like that says how overlooked Cole was more than it says how bad Lee is.

Lee was never a WR1 haha. He got thrust into that role due to injuries. And neither is Cole. They both are capable of being a solid complementary receiver. Cole has slightly better hands, Lee runs more routes well and is much more elusive.

 

he was literally WR1 this year before he got injured for the 1000th time. I don't know at what point you'll stop defending him but after four years I don't know what else is left for you to see

Yes, that does mean we should’ve moved on from him rather than pay him. That does not mean he’s worse than second year Cole and Westbrook. You are deeply exaggerating and beating a dead horse.

Also implies you’re marring the death of the horse to look far worse than it was haha. I also said “exaggerating”. Lee didn’t work out but let’s be realistic, he knows more about playing wide receiver than those guys and is better at running routes. We are definitely having to teach some guys new things this year, and Bortles will have even less options when he throws, until they pick up on those nuances of the game.

Lee cannot play the position like Bortles needs him to. He can't make ridiculous adjustments to catch shitty passes or make a catch while being tackled by three guys because Bortles forces the ball to whoever he wants. Westbrook (fuck him) can. He can't consistently get separation like Cole can. Chark is both of those.

 

Chark is not good right now dude. You saw his preseason. In practice it was similar.

You’re not taking the learning curve into account. You’re mistaking “better potential” for “better at WR right now”.

Lee is also open a lot more than Cole. What sucks is Lee doesn’t come through on those opportunities nearly as reliably as Cole does. While I see your point based on the exciting things Cole HAS done, what I’m saying is, Cole is still only available to Bortles in choice situations. He hasn’t learned how to get separation against almost any coverage like Lee has.

 

I'd rather have that potential than a guy who is disappointing right now with no potential to be that much better than he is now.
