Thing I like most about this trade is that this is going to allow Michael to be a situational role player rather than "the guy". He was still incredibly productive last year but by allowing him to slow down and play maybe 60-70% of the snaps he did in 2017, should keep him fresh all year as a nice rotational piece.

He (Bennett) played 931 snaps (84.79%) while the most used Eagles defensive lineman was Brandon Graham at 663 snaps (64.37%). Bennett should slot into the Vinny Curry type role (576 snaps, 55.92%) which is perfect.

 

Is this only gonna be a one year thing or is he gonna be here beyond next year ?

 

Ajayi was a pain in the ass in Miami, he turned out not to have a single problem here. I think the same will happen for Michael. I don't know, playing for Pete Carroll seems like it sucks.

I'd say its contingent on how he plays in 2018. Eagles can cut bait at any time with no dead cap. He carries an 8.75 number in 2019. 10.225 in 2020.

So I am guessing he's at best a two year deal unless he lights it up and they extend him before that 2020 #. But I don't think they'll extend a 34 year old Michael Bennett. So yeah, two year max, imo.

But for what they gave up, that's an easy deal you do every day. They gave the Seahawks back their 5th rounder for Michael Bennett.
