You gotta add Tate to that.

WOW Tate is only getting 6.5 million AAV? Yeah gimmie Tate, god damn.

Tate, Golladay, Decker, Ragnow, and Kerryon.

Shit, we don't even need to combine the teams lol.

Trade Cole, Westbrook, Yeldon, Fowler, Cann, Parnell, and Gipson.

All of you missed the obvious choice, the Liguars.

It might not add up to a fully functional team still...they have a lot of the same problems.

But yeah, I'd take Bortles at $19mil over Stafford at $29mil and take my shot on signing a few lineman instead.

Y'all are letting one horrific game from Stafford blind you to how below average Bortles is.

My problem with Beane/McDermott isn't the plan of having a 3-4 year rebuild. In many ways it was needed. Whaley assembled an expensive, vet heavy roster that was middling at best. My problem is with the execution of everything since they showed up and said that was the plan.

Let me begin by saying I wasn't the biggest fan of the McDermott hire to begin with. I wanted a more modern coach. I have been watching this team attempt to run and stop the run forever, the last I wanted was more of that, but here we are.

Moving on, I don't agree with tearing a team down to the studs, acquiring draft capital, and then IMMEDIATELY blowing that draft capital to move up for a project QB who wasn't even the best QB in the draft. If they gave that all up for Darnold or Mayfield I would probably have been a lot more patient this year. But they didn't do that, they drafted the QB least likely to succeed.

They also traded away Tyrod Taylor who had his warts, and didn't bring in any capable veteran replacement. If Josh Allen was THEIR GUY and they knew it, they should have known they needed a bridge QB. There were plenty of options out there. Keep Tyrod for one more year. McCown. Bridgewater. Bradford. Griffin. Literally anything other than waiting until they all signed and picking McCarron off the scrap heap.

And even worse they did all of this while blindly following their faith that Nathan Peterman could be a capable NFL QB despite plenty of evidence to the contrary. So here we are, in week 2, starting Josh Allen who isn't ready, because it's the only option they have. They're throwing a raw rookie into the fire behind an OL that they have invested nothing in since they got here, to throw to a group of receivers that are terrible, all by their own doing because none of them were on the team before they were hired by the Bills.

It's just ass backwards. You don't draft the QB then tank for Ed Oliver or Nick Bosa.

You're ignoring one vital statistic - Blake Bortles has more playoff wins than Matthew Stafford.

    LOL, very funny, but...

Bortles best seasons are basically Stafford's average level of play. I'd take him 10 out of 10 times.

  17. CarpetElf

That's not a joke. Blake Bortles has won playoff games. Stafford hasn't. Bortles has gone on record saying he'd rather take "Tom Brady-like" (see: team friendly) deals than chase money.

Stafford is more talented, sure, but he's five years older and $10 million more expensive. Not worth it.

Bortles winning a playoff game has nothing to do with whether or not he's more or less talented than Stafford though, so there's not relevance in bringing it up.

Only Calais Campbell makes more on the Jaguars than the difference between Stafford and Bortles's cap hit this year.

It has everything to do with which person you'd take. I already said Stafford is more talented but talent is just one aspect. Brady is more talented than all of them. He's making less money than most of them.

The Saints and Rams have told me salary caps are made up, we can make it work by bringing over Stafford and Slay @CarpetElf

Comparing the amount of their contracts is a valid argument, but bringing in who has or hasn't won a playoff game has nothing at all to do with which one is more talented.

  25. CarpetElf

chorus's #3 oklahoma city comets fan Prestigious

No, again, I already said which was more talented. But that's not the only factor. Bortles has won in the playoffs, Stafford has not. Bortles won because his contract is cheaper, therefore we can afford to build a better team. In a world where Nick Foles is Super Bowl MVP, it's nearly impossible to argue that a QB deserves as much money as they've been getting.
