I hope Bortles stinks just so Fournette gets a billion carries and runs over defenses all year so I can win the Chorus fantasy league and laugh at Randall for trying to trade for him

I'm saying your entire case is hinging on a difference of 13 carries. He's bad because he doesn't average 4.0ypc but that's the difference of half a game.

what year is this? no it absolutely is not. Its nothing special.

last year alone, there were 22 RBs who averaged more than that. There are not 22 "very good" RBs in the league

Wow, I just can't even respond to that.

If you average 4.0 ypc at a volume of carries like that, you'll get calls from every team who doesn't have an elite running back.

 

How about.... 5.1 ypc?

I think we are hyperfocusing on YPC as if that tells the entire story.

Getting 4.0 YPC out of an average to bad offensive line is crazy difficult. Meanwhile, if your line is amazing and your passing game is also a threat, you can do it with some backup level RB even (see: Joseph Addai / Donald Brown on the mid '00s Colts)

 

It's like completion percentage. Yes it samples how often you complete your passes. But it could be raised or lowered by the circumstances without actually being a good frame of reference for which QB are pure accurate throwers.

Johnson - 4.4
Bell - 4.45
Elliott - 4.6

4.0 isn't elite or something ridiculous on it's own, but 3.9 at that amount of carries absolutely is impressive any way you slice it.

 

Yeah i struggle to agree to disagree when the thing we are agreeing to disagree on is simple numbers. it's a flaw, i admit it.
