It might be a bad strategy (or just a bad assessment of what you need), but my understanding is that their new defensive scheme is supposed to de-emphasize CBs and make pass rush, fast LBs, and safety play the core of the defensive. Hence not taking guys like the two Jacksons, and loading up on DL and LB

But then again, there are times when everyone is making fun of us for picking Frederick at the end of the first round but then he goes onto be one of the best centers in the league for 5+ years.

I mean there are definitely a few draft picks you can laugh off at the time because you just know it isn't going to pan out. But yes most of the time it's a 50/50 chance at being a good/bad pick

 

The only pick I can 100% justify thinking was laughable at the time was when the Bucs traded up in the second round to draft Robert Aguayo.

Yeah that would have been a bad pick even if Aguayo was a great kicker. What happened afterwards just made it worse

 

I mean you can pretty much laugh off *most* picks Seattle makes from rounds 1-4

 

The Lions were dumb at the time and are even dumber now after we drafted Ebron that year
