Mathieu is the only starter I like. Justin Reid is good but a rookie safety is very very rarely a threat. We know Colvin better than anyone so he doesn't frighten me.

  2. I’m not talking about them taking off and running. They’re both mobile in the pocket and in the backfield. They know how to buy time and avoid the rush. Will it be hard against the Jags D? Yeah. But they are capable of beating them.

Jonjo is still very good, Kevin Johnson is the main question mark

Team was so decimated with injuries last season, it’ll be nice to have everyone back in a regular season matchup

    Jags got super cocky smh

Hey, I am not Randall lol. I said 7 to 10 wins this season. The Super Bowl pick is me being a homer, not something I think is going to actually happen (plus I have us losing the SB anyway).

I agree about the running game though, I still don’t trust Lamar

In the same vein though you’re acting like we won’t score back lol. The modern NFL has a lot of ways of making a QBs job easy.

Sometimes all Brees has to do is throw to mostly runningbacks for basically an entire half, because it’s hard to stop if you scheme it right with the right two different style RBs. Sometimes flood concepts are basically a footrace that gives your hot read WR a head start, etc.

It’s a team sport is what I reiterate. We scored 24 or more points 9 out of 16 games last season (+45 on the Steelers in playoffs). If you lower the number to 23 it happened 11 games. We score enough points through running, special teams, defensive TD etc - and Bortles still had a lot of easy ones on his way to 21 passing and 2 rushing.

This team cultivates momentum and sometimes Bortles doesn’t even have anything to do with it. That’s the best part of Marrone as coach. We are not that team that struggles to put up 17 points and hopes our defense can shut them out.

  7. Someone wake me up when the Pats clinch the division again.

  8. I don’t disagree with the majority of what you’re saying. My only point is that other teams have improved and thinking another 10+ win season will be easy is a bit too optimistic. The Jags are a strong team but I don’t see them as a Super Bowl contender. And I don’t think any Jags fan should be offended when hearing that.

Browns win 4 in a row and then don't win again till the last week of the season. They beat the ravens, stopping them from getting a playoff spot and hue gets an extension.. probably.

I didn’t say it would be easy. I said we have a tough schedule and it’d be hard to do better than 10-6.

Which still probably wins the division and gives us a chance to be a hard to predict / gameplan against team in the playoffs. Maybe not a primary Super Bowl contender but we are absolutely still in that dark horse range.

However I also think projecting us all the way down to 7-9 or something is too conservative, and doesn’t really make a specific statement about how our team overall matches up with the rest of the league. The AFC for one is very flawed. Lot of one sided teams not just us. We compensate well due to unusually talented special teams / defensive takeaways boosting our scoring potential. For two, when is the last time you’ve seen a #1 or #2 defense not compete in the playoffs?

You’re damn right I’m being bold and a little bit cocky at this point after the 37838428th time people say we can’t keep winning because Blork Bottles.

I do recognize that Bortles isn’t good. And occasionally he can totally ruin games. But it’s a tired narrative that’s dismissive of everything that makes us a good team in the first place. In terms of young talent, we are a top 5 team in the league. In terms of free agent acquisitions performing well, we are a top 5 team in the league. Bortles is a big piece but he’s just one piece.

Bortles is just one piece, that piece is the most important position in the NFL. If he stinks again the Jags are in trouble. I see the Jags struggling to score points this year.
