Young is still better though. Favre is debatable. I’m personally more impressed with his longevity, SB performances, and arm talent and that gives him the edge over Marino for me.

I definitely don’t think the Packers would have been that good without Favre, they weren’t as loaded as everyone acts like they were.

    The rivalry is back on

That’s when most of Brady’s Super Bowl wins are? Idk

Young won 66% of the games for his career playing with the best WR of all time and stacked rosters

Marino win 62% of the games for his career while never having a legit D or running game

Tony Romo would be given so much less shit had he been the QB on literally any other team

Super complex scheme though. Took a very smart QB for his time to keep SF going. We give modern QB credit for exactly the same thing regardless what other weapons they have.

Now that's the truth. His quality of play combined with his personality and backstory would make him Americas' darling.

I think if Sean Payton got his original wish of trading for Romo from the Cowboys to the Saints instead of us denying him that and him getting Brees, that Romo would also have a ring and people would be calling him a Hall of Famer.

I think the Saints are okay with with how things turned out. Also, how different would the NFL have looked in the last 12 years if the Dolphins got Brees and Saints got Romo lol

The NFL? Fuck that, I'd have some fucking college championships if Nick Saban didn't burn out in the NFL.

So whoever caused that, you know, fuck off and stuff.

  9. Honestly the most interesting and surprising thing to come out of this conversation is that Rodgers is already 34. Where the hell did the time go?

And just looking at Rodgers stats is incredble. He played in 50 less games and has 100 less INTs than Big Ben lol

Well his career didn't really start until he was like 25-26 so

thank you for reminding me of this

not only did we decide NOT to sign Drew Brees (for no assets), we decided to TRADE a 2nd round pick for Daunte Culpepper who started a grand total of 4 games in Miami

he sat for like 3 years which is why its a bit weird he is that old

Does Hue Jackson not remember Todd Haley was a head coach at one point?

To be fair, the Tequila Cowboy doesn’t have a great coaching record either

But Hue is talking to him like he has no idea what it's like to be a Head Coach.

10 years ago yesterday was when Favre was traded to the Jets (learned that from local news).

go watch highlights from Rodgers first year or so as starter - he looks and plays SO DIFFERENT.

a curious "what if" is wondering how he would have turned out (on the Packers or not) if he didn't sit behind Favre. i firmly believe that sitting behind Favre helped from the standpoint of not wanting to turn the ball over / taking so many less risks when he finally became the starter. watch his first year or so - he takes so many sacks because he's afraid to throw the ball (away, to a receiver, at all) and he doesn't have the mobility yet. i tend to believe that he took so many sacks because he saw Favre throw 15-20+ for 3 straight years and probably heard so many variations of curse words that he didn't want to add to that.

if he didn't sit behind Favre, would he throw more picks? would he get sacked / more or less than he did when he became starter?

also, i take this to mean there will be no extension in Green Bay. Rodgers is done with that franchise and the sport of football. it's clear as day.

"I'm getting older and grumpier," Rodgers said. "I've been at this for a long time. I'm tired, too; we're all a little tired. When you get a little tired, the fuse gets a little shorter."

you don't hear that from Brady, Brees, Big Ben, Eli, or Rivers! (who are all older than Rodgers and have played more)

He may be old and grumpy, but I'm sure it'd be tough passing up the biggest contract in NFL history when its presented to him.

Also, Big Ben's quote from last year isn't as bad as Rodgers, but he was still contemplating retirement and having doubts - “To consider health, and family and things like that and just kind of take some time away to evaluate next season, if there’s going to be a next season.”

I’m pretty sure this is when I started posting on the sports forum haha

  23. I'm definitely curious as to what Ben will do. He has another year on his contract, he will be 37, held together with duct tape, etc. I don't know if you offer him another extension, but do you put all your eggs in the Mason Rudolph basket?

i just adore the 'why your team sucks' write ups on Dead Spin and particularly love tirade about the state of Colorado:

As for Denver itself, it is now the Promontory Point of High-End Douchebaggery: a place where all the worst people from the West Coast and all the worst people from the East Coast have converged. It’s nothing but tech bros, tech bros disguised as nature bros, and junior Lance Armstrongs. As a result, Denver is now nothing but high rises for rich dickheads pretending to be hippies and smug native Coloradans complaining about the rising cost of weed. You are L.A. of the Rockies now.

And the rest of Colorado isn’t much better! All of its cities suck now. Denver is a nightmare future tech hellscape. Boulder is like if you took Berkeley but also made it Disneyland. Colorado Springs is a bad mix of weirdo running freaks and meth heads and angry military guys. Fort Collins is a bum-fuck farm town. Pueblo is the meth capital of the entire goddamn world and is routinely overrun by locusts, and yet is somehow the most tolerable city in the state. It’s a goddamn tragedy, is what it is. The state with the most amazing natural beauty in America is otherwise defined by 15,000-seat megachurches where a guy in shorts encourages people to “think of Jesus as your workout buddy.”
