Fun question:

If Rodgers played his entire career under Belichick with the same teams Brady has had, would he be better than Brady or worse? Would he have 5, less, or more rings?

I think Rodgers has more overall talent than Brady when across the board, but it just comes down to that clutch and mental game. This is where I think Brady is superior.

I don't get why we think bringing up a couple off games actually means anything. Literally every player in every sport throughout history has played a bad game.

Its funny how defined Romo is by that one play in the playoffs. And really, that one image. Statistically, there's not a huge gulf between Romo's stats and Rodgers. And yet Rodgers had that dominate 2010 playoff run and has done pretty well overall. Romo choked the few chances he got

 

Same with Manning and a lot of top QB though.

Young and Rodgers are tougher because you have to account for their rushing. Rodgers rushed for 1000yds in 2010 if you count the playoffs. Id take Marino over Young for sure in greatest of all time...but if I were building a team, I think id want Young.

Yeah, but Brees with an even functional defense should be holding 2-3 rings. He and Manning are both guys that are colored by the reality that while they had offensive recieving talent, everything else around them was dog shit most of the time.

 

Young was more efficient AND more of a winner. Also one of the best running QBs ever. There is no perspective statistically where you can put any 90s QB above Young. Young’s numbers would still be top 10 to top 5 today.

Favre was slightly less efficient but more of a winner, probably the only 90s QB with a better arm than Marino... and just the pure longevity and numbers. Still taking the Vikings to the playoffs with grey hair and shit come onnnn. Marino was getting dwepped 62-7 in the wild card round by yours truly when he got old.

It’s honestly hard for me to keep Favre, the first QB out of only 3 so far to reach 70,000 yards, out of the top 5 but yeah he had too many erratic years between his good ones to compete with my top 5 of all super consistent QBs

 

It's crazy for people to point to that one play for Romo and use it in any argument about how he's a choker or something.

I doubt people would do it on here, thankfully, but if someone does, I know I can disregard their opinion of him or the NFL in general.

I'd also say that he didn't choke the few chances he got, but that's a whole other debate.

 

Tony Romo is statistically the most likely QB to lead a successful fourth quarter comeback.

 

what the hell does "more of a winner" even mean? Look at the rosters that Marino had most of his career. For the most part, they were dogshit

He never had a legitimate defense and never had a legitimate running game

using one game as a barometer for a player's career is nonsense. the Packers and 49ers both had much better rosters consistently than Marino ever got to play with

Yep. And he had tons of practice seeing as our defenses were dog shit the majority of his career.

I can't tell you how many times I've watched him put up points like he's the best in the league only to watch our defense just get demolished.

 

It’s not one game. Marino went 242-240 over his career. You can’t ignore that basically every other QB we discuss has a better record. You can’t argue that Marino found the playoffs less often. If we WERE just talking about losing superbowls then I’d give Marino more credit. But while he put up numbers, some of these QB have literally carried bad teams to playoff success at times in their career. Favre’s cast wasn’t always that great.

2004 v PHI: Rodgers is 21 and at this point is probably considered the top QB prospect. Sure, I’ll bite. Belichick could probably win a Super Bowl with that defense and a talented project at QB.

2007 v NYG: Aaron Rodgers can’t defend the helmet catch from the sideline.

2008: Rodgers was healthy this year. “Rookie” Rodgers is still worth at least 2 more wins than Matt Cassel. Steelers have to play an extra game, which is their downfall, and the Pats skate over the Cardinals.

2009 - 2015: Brady is playing like the GOAT at this point. Rodgers is also dope and doesn’t make a big dent one way or the other
