Someone once told me that the contracts go up every year and what is a top five contract at signing may not even be top ten the next year

But you're missing the point that a starting quarterback, whether they're top ten or not, are going to get around or more than $30 million soon enough because the cap rises every year.

  3. How about this take - no one should be making 30M a year. Every athlete is overpaid.

We've already talked about this. Saying that $30 mill is market value is ahead of schedule if you project the numbers and their previous growth patterns. Maybe it will be market value in a couple years.

What about saying that we're all underpaid and everyone should make 30m a year

No, I have addressed this multiple times.

You are talking about "next year", when Dak's contract is up. "soon enough" is not specific. Sure, in 3-4 years QB will be making that much. Next year? absolutely not.

But also Prescott MAY be up for contract under a new CBA

  8. Then 30M a year just becomes 30B a year. It will scale appropriately so that there is a lower and middle class and the ultra rich.

I've said 'around' multiple times and next year, the cap will go up again and about $29 mil will be the normal amount for a new QB contract.

    Brock's contract was also frontloaded

  11. The real question is should the Jags be paying Tanner Lee (who?) 495K in 2019. WHAT'S HIS TRUE WORTH???

Here's the difference: My guitar is nearly impossible to replace with another guitar. I wouldn't say the same thing about Dak Prescott being nearly impossible to replace with another QB.

Like, say my guitar wasn't a custom Tele and was just the Fender American Standard Tele? That's a pretty good "middle of the road" guitar, but if someone wants to buy it for 10k go the fuck right ahead and I'll just go get another one for 1k.

But, my guitar is rare so it makes more sense to overvalue it compared to how much i bought it for / how much the materials cost.

    Nope. Supporter

I'd like to hear this exact same argument but this time about Goff- Go

Now this is a weird ass argument that I just cannot agree with in any way hahahaha

"The difference between this inanimate object and this person is that it's near impossible to replace the inanimate object" what?

Yeah this is where I have to step out of the argument haha there's zero chance of this reaching a conclusion.

I'm saying Dak isn't THAT special of a QB, that you should be afraid to let him walk for CLEARLY too much money

Players as good as Dak are categorically not easy to find.

I just don't even get how you took it like that haha. But whatever. I'm only saying that Dak is not this ultra rare talent and that's why I wouldn't just let the outside market drive my price for him up endlessly. At $30-$31 mil I'd just let him walk and find a new QB. Maybe that's not what you'd do but that's what I'd do.

  21. Not this ultra rare talent but there are only like 20 startable QBs in the world and he's one of them

Because it's what you said hahaha. People are flexible and can develop, can live up to expectations, surpass them, or fall below them. People are hard to replace because their behaviors can change, environments can change, and people you THINK can be a replacement may not be because everyone is different and performs differently in unique situations. Objects are what they are and can by definition be replaced as long as the materials exist.

Dak is much harder to replace than a guitar no matter how specific the construction of the guitar.

My only Dak take is that they should have let Romo take back the reigns when he was healthy in Dak’s rookie year. Which is probably unfair because of hindsight, but who cares it’s offseason time baby

    Pretty much this

I think they should not have let Romo take back the reins BUT since we know they lost in the playoffs the hindsight argument is to choose the option where they we don't know if they lose in the playoffs

I can understand sticking with the hot hand and team chemistry, blah blah blah, but it would have been the right call to see how Romo did with that awesome roster.
