He didn't really until he shit the bed for the last 2 months of this season. And even then, it wasn't near the extent that people did for Dak.

Would like to add that year 1 Trubisky had abysmal coaching and I'd say that year he had worse than both Dak and Watson. I'm excited for his year 3.

Not true at all, I've said it about Goff all year.

This is just pretty biased haha I'm sorry. Most young QB do NOT have as stable of a team, as good of a line, and as little pressure to pass the ball as he has in Dallas. Goff did but thats really about it.

That chart isn't delineating the contracts in context of what the cap amount was at the time the contracts were signed. Like I said before, $25 million not that long ago was near absurd and now that would be a good deal for a starting quarterback.

I didn't say that he wasn't getting help. All I said was that any quarterback with a good/great rushing attack is helped.

I just look at it as Dak doesn't deserve the money he's going to get but a lot of players in the league get a lot of they don't deserve. It's just how the NFL works.

$25 million is STILL a high number if the QB isn't one of the best. Derek Carr & Kirk Cousins' deals are BAD deals.

How was our team stable over the past 3 years, as far as offensive support? It's an ongoing subject in this thread and pretty much everywhere that Dallas has had some of the worst coaching and playcalling in the league, but that's stable and good in this argument? Huh?

Our line was great in run and pass blocking in 2016, took a step back in 2017 in quality/health, and in 2018 were great at run blocking but abysmal in pass blocking. They were ranked in the bottom third in pass blocking for all of 2018. It was so bad that we fired our offensive line coach. People seem to think our line is still anywhere near its' 2016 form and it's painfully obviously not true if you watch our games.

I'd be thrilled if he signs for $25 million because at that point, that will be on the lower end of amount of money for a franchise quarterback.

    I said "stable", I didn't say "genius"

The Cowboys have certainly had plenty of stability and an offense that can consistently take pressure off of Dak. I don't see what's not clear about that. Yeah the coaching wasn't great but the team was pretty stable and expectations of Dak remain moderate.

I think that the reason why people say the Cowboys' coaching is terrible is because they don't know wtf to do when the other team is stopping the run. But that's part of my criticism of Dak, too. They know he's not a pocket passer and that he gets all awkward in the pocket, so they get stumped when they can't get the opponent's defensive front moving with misdirection bootlegs & play-action.

  11. 25 million, 30 million, who cares. immaterial

The playoff game against the Rams is a perfect example of this.

If your QB is not as bad as Brock Osweiler pay him whatever and you'll get past it eventually, the salary cap is a myth and can be manipulated for what you want.

I guess I'm not interpreting 'stable' in the right way because outside of most of 2016, there are/were glaring holes on our team (coaching, poor offensive line health/protection, no receivers, etc...) in 2017 and 2018 and Dak has done pretty damn well considering.

Nahhhh plenty of teams get screwed by overspending their cap. See: the 2001 Jacksonville Jaguars

$25 Million For Dak. I'll hand the ball to Zeke while my coaches desperately pray I don't ever have to throw the ball for waaaay less than that lol.

Then the Jags didn't manipulate it right

The Cowboys restructred Romo for years and years and by the time the contract was ready to bite them in the ass, they were already contenders again with a young roster. They manipulated their giant contracts and still built a team without actually being in a cap hell.

Good GMs get good deals, great GMs don't have to

I think it's easy to take the salary cap for granted from the outside looking in. We don't realize how smart GM's have to be to get out of cap hell. That's their job 365 days a year so there's a lotttt of long term strategy & planning involved that we don't see.

And not every GM knows how to bail themselves out of that situation, it's really just a select few (Mickey Loomis on the Saints & Howie Roseman on the Eagles are great examples)

Dak was the only reason that game wasn't a 30 point blowout.

Trust me I believe it's hard but that's also why they're hired to do such a giant job. It's not like owners are picking guys with finance degrees off the streets and being like "This is enough!" If you're paid to be a GM you should be able to manipulate the cap.

That game wasn't as close as the score indicated. Dak looked clueless.

Yeah but, what I'm saying is there's still maybe 10 GMs in the league who are actually good at that job haha. The idea that the salary cap can be manipulated whenever the team got too greedy is really only true for a fraction of the teams in the league. The rest of them absolutely can get fucked past the point of no return because they don't have a guy as calculated as Roseman.
