I do recognize that I'm contradicting myself a bit too. I get that I'm saying "I care about the results" with Aaron Donald but not doing so with the fact that the Rams defense held the Pats to 13 points. But I do think an eye test showed that a lot more of this was Brady really not being "on" outside of a couple drives than it was the Rams defense actually playing well. I don't think the scoreboard tells the whole story of the front 7.

The Pats took the road less travelled and caught LAR by surprise. Not a lot of teams have the courage to run it at that defensive front. This is not the first time we’ve seen Belicheck use the running game to take control of a good defense, is my thing.

Also even against great defenses, Brady rarely gets sacked / throws picks, Jags in 2017 still only got 3 sacks and no picks I believe. 0 TD / 1 INT tells you he was very uncomfortable. If the Patriots could’ve throttled the Rams, they would. They are not the team that holds back and keeps the opponent in the game.

In general the rams are overaggressive and overrated because of it and I agree with you on that basic sense @Fucking Dustin. They were like 15th-16th in terms of yards & points allowed, and relied on splash plays to get ahead. We just have different reasoning to come to that conclusion, where I blame the style of scheme & coaching more, and that’s always been Wade Phillips’ gamble that he lives and dies on. But that said I expected them to give up more than they did this game.

The chance of me paying attention to hockey post-Modano is very small

I can name like 5 Stars players since then and even less non-Stars players

It sucks because hockey is at a good place right now with all the talent but the nhl is so bad at marketing anyone

i've pretty much rotated all of my attention from football to hockey over the last 6-7 months. i just find myself engaged and enjoying hockey so much more than football, which feels so slow to me. i wish i could follow both, but i know i'm all aboard the hockey train, especially once Seattle starts up. i'll still follow the Seahawks, but watching other games and reading about other teams will definitely disappear.
