They were last years Eagles actually. Pederson did what he did because he had the most unpredictable playcalling in the league. This year Nagy did.

 

To go back to another point in this thread - I also think this is why I'm writing Anthony Lynn off. It feels like he's using a pretty simple formula and I think we're gonna see teams figure that formula out next year now that he's cycled through all his plays.

 

I think the Chargers are a top five roster in the NFL. I like Lynn and what he's doing but they're still underperforming imo

A fun point is that if the Saints ended up in the SB this likely wouldn't have ever happened haha. Pats would've probably stuck to man. They capitalized on Goff's lack of experience.

But they also have the healthy, elite defense with 36 (!) takeaways last season and the erratic, young QB leading the offense who did just enough to give you hope

I do like Nagy a lot though and think that whole staff is better than the JAX staff. I think it’ll take another step forward on offense to make the playoffs next year though and I’m not confident Trubs has that in him

 

Rivers is good but he makes a lot of bad passes too. A lot of people, including me, always feel bad for him when he was to go the length of the field with a minute left and no timeouts every week, but he's usually the reason they're trailing.

For reference, if you say that they’re going to stay a top 5 team but regress a little bit in takeaways, they’re getting the ball off of turnovers 8 fewer times

 

Rivers makes me nervous. Every time I watched him this year, he was frantic before the snap and always snapped it at 1 second. He then had happy feet in the pocket a lot of the time.

 

Rivers isn’t a top 5 QB and I’d disagree but listen if you said he wasn’t a top 10 QB, but unless you can pull a Pat Mahomes out of thin air, I can’t imagine you’re gonna find a new QB anywhere close to as good as Rivers is during the Chargers’ current competitive window
