Another accounting misconception is that because you're a CPA it means you know a lot about taxes.

I took one tax class in college and tax was like 20% of the overall CPA exam. I know nothing about taxes.

 

The funny thing is that I did an internship where part of the job was running pre-screenings of movies. I'd have to stand outside the showing to take quick notes of people's reactions to the movie. In my pre-screening speech, I would let them know about this and, whether it was positive or negative, I urged them to really say how they felt. I swear like 90% of the answers were "it was great" or "pretty good movie."

In the end, most of the job was just noting the best laughs/reactions during the movie for the studios, which is what leads studios to put the best parts in the trailers. haha

 

Right now I'm basically the middleman for our clients' actual accountants and our software's revenue report/GL exports/purchase journal/etc

I make sure the client's transactions within our software are exporting to the correct codes based on the transactions that took place

It's normally very easy because our software has very few bugs. This week has been the opposite

 

That sounds potentially stressful but overall not bad. Hire me as your assistant. I'll...assist.

I've got three weeks in an AirBnB while we look for a place and a job. So, no haha

 

The Shawshank Redemption is such a great movie. I was seeing a woman for a little while and she had never seen it before, so we stayed in and watched it one night and she obviously loved it. We don't keep in touch but even years later, I'll get a text every time she watches it again or passes it on TV flipping channels.

 

damn i'm so risk averse I could never do that. My company owns some car dealerships in the area if you know anything about cars.

My roommates friend runs a restaurant that has a store in Denver so i have that as a fallback if nothing else.
I know so little that i dont even have a car haha

 

I'll be getting a pretty big bonus next month and I've considered taking a month off to maybe do a vacation but also just to unwind and find a different job that I enjoy more, but I don't think I could ever handle the anxiety of not having a job or not having one lined up. I wish I could do that.

Ha. It's funny because so am i haha. Randall can more than atest to that haha.

 

It's a reason (one of many) I didn't follow through with pursuing music as a career. I just can't do the whole "we're traveling city to city for $100 gigs and your van might break down" life. I love music but I don't love the politics of the music business enough to do that.

This is me working on my risk aversion actually haha. Cause a lot of the time if there is any level of risk i just don't do it.

See - going outside, talking to people, etc...

 

When I first moved out from home, I saved up and wouldn't do it until I had over $5,000 in savings, so I totally get this.
