I'm not even kidding though. My wife is a huge Disney person and demands we go all the time. We do not see eye to eye on what a good vacation is. I'll probably go at least every other year.

Dude @spiffa0 just take one trip to Costa Rica or Hawaii or fuck it, British Columbia or the German Alps or Norway.

Your family will instantly realize Disney fucking sucks lol.

 

My family took me to Costa Rica as a kid and while there we got robbed

We've been to Disney World since, we haven't been to Costa Rica since

 

My sister went to Hawaii for her honeymoon and was not crazy about it

I hate my commute to and from work, but it is nice sometimes to have that hour to be quiet and kinda reset my head.

That’s odd. Hawai’i is one of the few “vacation”-esque spots I’ve been that felt authentic and like it actually lived up to the hype.

Hawaii >>>>>>>>>>> the Caribbean

 

Also if you have a really busy series of work days where you can't use headphones, and you have no commute, you get way behind on music/podcasts

 

In the Caribbean I've only been to the Cayman Islands which was fun but definitely very touristy

 

I like this if it’s winding country roads. I hate this if it’s congested highways and boulevards.

 

My wife and I want to go to the same places for vacation but the hardest part (aside from saving up the money) is that we feel so guilty leaving our dogs lol

 

Outside of getting robbed Costa Rica was awesome though, was cool as shit going to our hotel the first day and there's like 3 bats perched outside the door

Like seriously if you take money out of the equation Hawaii is one of the most purely amazing and happy places I could think of to live in the country.

 

I listen to Netflix at work maybe 7.5 of my 8 hours haha

i went to Hawaii last year by myself for... 14 days? i think.

and i tell everyone the same thing when i talk about that vacation - go for like 2-3 days first, and then go back at a later date for a week or more.

i was so fucking bored because there were only so many places to go on foot, i was damn near broke (never should have gone on the trip to begin with but whatever), the neighborhoods right behind the hotels and after about 3 miles of beach on Waikiki are sketchy as fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck and everything is, surprise surprise, expensive as shit.

had i gone for a few days, gotten the layout down and learned where things were and then gone back like, this summer, i'd have a blast. instead i just sat on the beach and read for two weeks, which is what i mostly wanted to do, but aside from the PERFECT weather, it wasn't "omg this place is the best" but most of that is my fault for what i was close to / could afford to do.
