But hey imma get certified in SQL, or Python, and get into programming. Definitely a field where Work-from-home opportunities exist.

And also since I’m basically building something piece by piece I could see myself being motivated to work at it 8+ hours at a time, like writing a song or something. Other fields of work, with a lot of back and forth between coworkers, maybe not so much.

This is not the worst idea Ive heard. I am now freelancing full-time, and when I was crunching 10-12hr days in the fall, there were days I got out of bed, walked to our den to work, and never made it to the living room til my wife was home. Lost track of time completely on those days and it was kind of soul crushing.

 

Yeah I would loooooooove to work from home and I have a job type that I could probably do it pretty easily. I spend way too much of my time sitting in traffic. I don't think my employer would ever go for it though heh

 

Yeah if you take classes, def aim for Python (or R, which I need to do too)

Working on Python more definitely needs to be on my career development list but I keep avoiding it because of school

 

I am unemployed.

It's definitely needed. My hardest adjustment has been that I have a difficult time separating my two lives and if I have a bad work day it ruins the rest of my day as a whole. I'm constantly in "work mode" and extremely irritable hahaha. Adding in a routine to at least leave the house and make it FEEL like I'm going somewhere different has helped a ton.

 

So Houston is DOPE.

Instead of working from home, I'd rather just get paid to not work and do whatever I want.

 

whoa, this is an interesting idea. i may try this tomorrow if i'm having issues concentrating / focusing.

that's a real good idea. i'll have to go without that tomorrow since i'm working home specifically to avoid going into the elements lol but for future use outside of tomorrow, i will have to remember this.

 

To be fair you’re getting a tour from someone who lived there also haha. Hard to truly experience the city unless a local knows the best spots and avoids the worst ones

 

another downside of working from home - i'm just gonna be eating all fucking day. whenever i'm bored or home (which is both / always) i just end up endlessly eating. going to work actually saves me money probably

 

You also don't get the free coffee

But in a way that's another benefit - you can actually have good coffee!

I’d rather get paid specifically to do what I want. Combine passion & employment. Hopefully I develop that kind of passion for software design.

I know that my passion for music will always be there, and I’ll always be pursuing that as a hopeful career, regardless what job pays my bills.

 

If I could just get paid to exist I'd probably volunteer a ton more which would be cool

 

NAH. My purpose would be travelling or something more interesting than working in accounting or SQL/Python nonsense.
