We don't need a new o line coach as badly as the Jaguars though

Blake Bortles has as many playoff wins as Carson Wentz has season ending injuries.

You guys remember when someone saw a Geico commercial and was like "lets make a sitcom about this"?

Because you’re taking credit away from them for something that isn’t even their fault, and that’s especially frustrating when you do it based on a small sample of unrelated injuries, which don’t even suggest that they will be more prone to injury in the future than most NFL players (who have also had similar injuries at some point).

It’s an unfair projection to factor in when you’re ranking young players because everyone is gonna get hurt eventually. Just cause it happens a lot early doesn’t mean you won’t learn to take care of your body and have a little luck go your way later in your career. It also doesn’t mean other players who have been healthy for 5 years can’t suddenly have the same 2 years of injury issues.

Ben is a pretty EXTREME example and even he still managed to play enough to have a lot of postseason success. So to be discounting Wentz because of injuries is kind of absurd. To me it’s part of the game and I don’t tier players based on it unless the injuries are clearly affecting their game.

Labels dont have to stick though. It's not like we're destining Wentz for future injuries. It's just something we are noticing now and aware of, and when he has more seasons without injuries we can change that label.

And nobody is taking credit from him by pointing out that he gets hurt too often. It’s just stating a fact.

That's why Nick Kroll does so many sketches/cameos/guest stars. He's trying to make sure clips from that show are buried deeply in your YouTube search.

What? Your whole argument was about taking credit away from him because you’re annoyed people consider him much better than Dak haha

No, my point was that Wentz is overrated in general, other people brought Dak into the conversation.

Pointing out that he’s injury prone isn’t discrediting his talent, which is what I was referring to.

I guess, but to me “changing the label” means admitting you were wrong about them being more “prone” to injury before. It means admitting you jumped to that conclusion too early, for a player who actually had the same likelihood of injury as most everyone else. And just by coincidence had their injuries early.

To me you only call a player injury prone if you expect him to keep getting hurt. Saying someone is injury prone is indeed a pointed criticism. Basically you’re trying to add an asterisk to his future contributions to the team on the basis of inconsistent availability.

To me it kind of IS like projecting more injuries, and designating that player as a disappointment haha. It’s easy to be too critical too early when you think in that mindset. Injuries are inevitable and most young players are still learning how to take preventative care of their body. 2 years in a row is unlucky but not all that uncommon. Actual injury prone players get hurt every year for several years. Keenan Allen, Ben Roethlisberger, Sam Bradford etc

I get that you agree with DeShaun being “injury prone” but I actually disagree haha. He’d have gotten hurt again the last two years if that was true, the way his O Line has been leaving him out to dry. If anything I praise him for bouncing back to near-elite level of play from a serious but common injury, I don’t use that as a reason to bet against him. The way he came back shows he handled his recovery like a pro and has been taking care of himself since. It’s flat out not fair to take a player who has done everything to come back and continue to have doubtful things to say about an injury that’s in the past.

Like we only say “injury prone” as a means to say “well this player isn’t gonna be reliable” haha. It’s not just a neutral observation, it absolutely is a criticism. And I think it shouldn’t be applied too soon unless you see a pattern in a short period of time. Two wildly different injuries is not a pattern.

I mean, but did you or did you not use “injury prone” as a reason why Wentz is overrated? You’re not just pointing a neutral thing out lol that is an active attempt to discredit him.

I remember when Stafford was “injury prone”.

Exactly! I’ve already used him as an example of another QB who got hurt twice early before becoming healthy long term, and it just got glossed over.

Thats so many unnecessary words lol. Of course you can get rid of the label. That doesn't mean the concern isnt valid

By principle my arguments will only last 1 day hahaha. I disagree with a lot of the assumption going on in the responses, but that'll have to wait till another day because I refuse to spend more than 1 consecutive day on it
