Well, RG3 was too small to play like that in the NFL. Wasn’t he like, under 210 lbs? He was real slender taking the crazy hits he took. Even like, Russell Wilson is only 5’11” but he’s 215. And also smarter about when to slide.

If their name isn't Baker Mayfield, they're overrated, don't have a great O-line, injury prone, not mobile, underrated but still not great, have a terrible OC/gameplan, reckless with their consistent running, don't have the weapons to be successful, turnover prone, and could turn around on a different team.

No one is questioning how “tough” Wentz is or whatever with how he got hurt. But you get injured and miss a handful of games in 2 out of 3 seasons, you’re going to be labeled injury prone. Doesn’t matter if it’s the same body part or not.

Additionally, did he or did he not have injuries that he missed games for in college? If yes, this, shows a pattern. A pattern of what? Being injury prone.

And if he doesn’t miss a game or extended time the next two years then that perception gets removed from him and none of this matters.

God dammit sometimes I fucking hate discussions that serve none of us any purpose lol

    Re: the earlier conversation

Mayfield is hands down my choice if I’m starting off a team haha. There are a lot of variables - I think Mayfield is resilient in the sense that he could turn a bad team around and that’s why I love him. If you can’t confrol any other variables then Mayfield gives you the best combination of potential / ceiling, leadership & elevating the team around him, how many years he will play for, clutch gene / swagger, and skillset. Plus no injury history to speak of.

Maybe that’s crazy to say this soon, but when I watch his film I already see a lot of sustainable, veteran level skills. And he’s special in terms of how much he’s able to “walk the walk” and respond / elevate his game when he’s challenged. He’s like Jalen Ramsey in that sense. From the moment he clapped back to Colin Cowherd in that pre draft interview; you could tell he only gets more tenacious when he’s challenged.

Mayfield at #1 follwed by Wilson #2. It would be Wilson first because he CERTAINLY just proved he can carry a mostly bad team, but he’s already like 30 years old.

#3 would be Mahomes. If I have a super smart OC though then I’d put Mahomes at #1. His stats are so insane they are *unheard of* for a first year starter but I think he’d be far more mistake prone on a more dysfunctional offense. I could see him throw a lot of picks and fumble a lot on the Jags for example lol.

Luck / Watson / Wentz are my next 3. Its tough to decide between them. They’re all A-minus quarterbacks for me. Luck is better but older and longer list of injuries to worry about. I consider Watson & Wentz very similar talent level, Wentz is a better passer while Watson is a better athlete but both are good at both.

No i mean healing wise. The rate of reinjury for a ligament, iirc, is much higher

I just generally think projecting the future based on the past does not work for incidents with very different variables / context.

We could find just as many examples of players who got unlucky with injuries early on but then became reliable for several years in a row. Demaryius Thomas, Calvin Johnson are big examples. If you want a quarterback example, Matt Stafford had major injuries in his first two seasons.

In those instances you don’t “remove” the injury prone label - you realize it was wrong because they didn’t really get hurt for any reason that isn’t true for other NFL players.

The line of logic you’re presenting would mean that a very high percentage of players have been injury prone. If it really is just a short term “label” that can be removed if a player stays healthy for awhile. That’s a meaningless term of comparison if you’re not actually using it to say a player is “more likely to get hurt” than others.

But if Wentz has a lot of college injury history too then this whole thing makes more sense.

One of two things is going to happen now. Wentz is either going to go on a Philip Rivers level healthy streak, or break every bone in his body in the preseason.

Deshaun Watson has 0 intact ACLs, how can I argue with it? That's why I'm so mortified that my team is gonna kill him behind this line and why I'm demanding new coaching ASAP.

Watson has played through enough injuries to where I agree that it's a risk and something the team needs to recognize and work towards offsetting

Deshaun has only the one injury, no? Even if he has more, whats the problem? An injury concern gets brought up and people get so weirdly defensive about it. All it means is in this sport where injury is always a risk, the risk is a little higher for someone with a history of injury. Would i take Rivers over Rodgers cause of that? Hell no. But Rivers over Ben at this point? Definitely.
