Xavier Su'a-Filo instantly became an above average player when he went to Dallas, WITHOUT Tyron Smith or Travis Frederick around him. He was our worst offensive lineman when he left.

Coaching is the problem.

 

Again I'm not saying because we're more competitive we need EVERYTHING more than you to close that gap. I'm saying we specifically need this, and this alone, and our desperation for this one thing is greater than yours, since you don't need that one thing as badly but need a lot of other things as well hence your record being worse.

I don’t know if it was as cut and dry as this person trying to rationalize the “letting go” makes it sound, but this was a weird thing with DeGugliemo

I just think we tend to root for teams that are “almost there” more than we root for teams that have a ways to go. From that logic I see why everyone is on Dustin’s side of the argument. But you gotta understand that a bad team wants to become competitive just as much as a good team wants to stay competitive.

OL coach is more of a “singular” solution for the Texans. It’s the one big fix to a team that really has one major problem.

But it’s definitely one of the BIG pieces for the Jags too considering we need to develop a new QB AND considering a runningback is our only current threat. We need a stable OL to get positive results out of both those things.

It’s like, the Texans need $1,000 more dollars to pay their medical bills. But the Jags need $1,000 more dollars to keep the lights on and food in the fridge. We both really fucking need that $1,000 for different reasons haha. But some would say we were irresponsible and got ourselves in this position, whereas the Texans are legitimately successful aside from that ailment so you root for them getting the $1,000 more.

 

I think it's like we have a house with all bills paid and food in the fridge but need a full $10,000 to pay our medical bills and have $0, and you need $300 more to buy food for your house and have $25 already, but don't have any money set aside for the electric bill.

Hot take: The Texans need offensive line players who don’t suck and the Jaguars need their offensive line players to not break by mid season and both could use a good OL coach in addition to that

 

All our OL players become passable players as soon as they go to another team and are only awful with us. This reflects that we have players that can work well with us and waste them because of bad coaching.

I think the quarterback is the food and the OL is the electric bill. Becuase without investing in the electric bill all your food is gonna go bad lol.

Also apparently Colts OL guy berated a player over something very personal and that's part of why he's gone, Texans have a great locker room that could honestly use a kick in the ass and Jags locker room is already recovering from a bit of dysfunction with Fournette starting fights and feuds with Coughlin and all that shit.

 

Is starting Rankin at tackle a coaching problem or a personnel problem? I thought it was because there was literally no one else to do it passably, but I’d also accept that it’s because your coaches are bad and thought it was a good football decision

 

Also @Fucking Dustin sorry I pissed you off, I knew I’d get you eventually because I will put maximum effort behind ANY argument that I get stuck on haha.

I want you to know that saying my argument is stupid and typing in caps didn’t offend me and I was actually a little tickled because I admire and relate to your passion. Lol. I like seeing someone get a little fiery when they double down on something.

 

It's a coaching problem, our best OL player all season was Kendall Lamm who we used in reserves but his primary position is RT and he did above average at RT this season. He should've been there all year over Rankin who had no reason to be playing tackle at all.
