I wouldn’t imagine many 4-3 teams are dropping a DT unless maybe it’s a quarter or prevent package just because of the personnel each requires to work well. You generally want big bois who can fill multiple gaps on the line in a 3-4 and quick guys (which normally means smaller) in a 4-3, so if you take one of your bigger guys off a 4-3 line, you’re probably not winning much up front in a 5 on 3 matchup

So a nickel would be a 4-2-5 and a dime would be a 4-1-6 and you have those same basic personnel constraints that you do in the base package

So people keep saying Eagles should trade Foles. I’m guessing that’d mean a tag and trade situation.

So a team is gonna have to give up pick(s) and resign him/have him under the tag.

Teams should just let Eagles tag him and then not offer them anything. I don’t think the Eagles would go into the season with him under the tag. Just call their bluff and wait for them to rescind the tag, right?

 

Foles has a 20 million option. They can pay that instead of tagging him (which would cost 29.31 mil). Would still be expensive, but 1. Foles could buy out of it for 2mil if he wants to explore free agency, and 2. since Jason Kelce is retiring that will free up SOME space to make it not completely unreasonable to eat the cost if finding a trade partner fails.

Still would be far from ideal but they don't have to touch the tag at the least.

I don't think Kelce is retiring...sounds like that was some wild speculation that flamed out of control.

I think the Eagles are just going to let Foles pay the 2M and buy out of his contract and let him pick where he wants to go...I'd like to get something for him but that doesn't do much for Foles and potentially becomes risky if they try to tag and trade and it doesn't work out.
