Gotta love watching Jets fans lose their mind over their latest coaching hire while their former head coach brings the Pats to the playoffs for the 18th time.

 

Was the browns defense as good as people are saying last year?

 

No one's saying that. That's why Williams got let go. They have hope with the talent, but injuries and poor game plans had them playing as one of the bottom 10 defenses.

 

He had control over the 53 man roster, but Grier supposedly had the final say on draft picks. They've actually drafted pretty well the past few years

 

I mean last night Gil Brandt and Alex Marvez basically confirmed it on their radio show

Gil is very connected in Dallas

 

Pretty much lived and died by the takeaway. Without the forced turnovers they wouldn't have been nearly as good as advertised.

 

Yes, but I listened to a different insider this morning saying that it's not confirmed at all and that the Dolphins have the Patriots defensive coordinator scheduled to be interviewed on Friday, so they haven't made a decision on Richard yet. Also, Marinelli said that he'd take a demotion to keep Richard here as the official defensive coordinator and Jerry said he'd pay to keep him here, etc...

 

They already interviewed Flores last week. They are interviewing their ST coach Darren Rizzi Friday but most dolphins people are saying that's just a courtesy

There can't be anything official yet since Richard is still in the playoffs

Perhaps this is my baseball ignorance showing, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s easier to step into baseball after not playing for a few years vs football. Someone who knows more than me could maybe answer that

 

i'd say this is probably accurate depending on what position you're going for in baseball.

The Bengals need to go ahead and do something stupid like hire Vance Joseph because otherwise I’m just gonna think that they’re waiting to poach my coordinators

 

I want him as the DC. The only place I think a New England assistant can thrive as a head coach is New England because the system and culture is implemented for them. Anywhere else it takes too long and the league is way too trigger happy on firing coaches nowadays.

Mccagnan doesn't seem to want coaches to have say over personnel or the draft imo, probably why he didn't want McCarthy.
