  1. It just depends what you have at your disposal. You can argue investing in the OL is most important because it’ll make a good QB great (Dallas). You can argue an elite QB will mask a bad OL (Seattle). Neither matters if your coach is a dummy (Seattle).

Good counterpoint. Playoff Seahawks and Steelers are stark examples of top pass rush without top pass rushers

That helps when your best edge rushers are in their 30s lol they better do that this week

However, Mack is a shortcut to having a dominant pass rush haha. If you don’t have that elite DC or DL coach then you need an elite player in there to take up more blockers and set the tone

    Nope. Supporter

OL is very underrated hopefully more teams take a page out of the Colts book

And the more recent Patriots teams for that matter. None have had elite pass rushers but they can all force QBs/playcallers into bad decisions.

  9. Seahawks don’t have one elite pass rusher but I love how they build their DL. They mainly try to beat you with speed. It’s fun to watch.

Jones has 15.5 sacks dude hahaha and Ford has 13.

They have both elite pass rush players and elite QB. They wouldn’t be as successful if they only had the latter

You said one player. Having a great unit is very different

Definitely. But I don't think that's the case for every team, which is kinda what the point of all this is. Not everyone needs a Khalil Mack level player, hell not everyone needs a Calais Campbell level player. Just like not everyone needs Tom Brady at QB, and not everyone needs Carson Wentz at QB. But shit they work for some teams.

  15. Yeah, I was gonna add to my last post....the Colts are the rare team with a great OL and an elite QB. They are a very lucky (pun not intended) organization. Manning poops out the year Luck comes out. Luck goes out for a season and they get a high pick with a generational talent at guard available.

    its all about line play

I would not be mad if the Dolphins spent every pick in this draft on OL and DL

The Bachelor premiere was not great last night, I have performance review this afternoon, and I need something else to occupy my time

My argument comes from, me saying I value Mack above Wentz though.

Do I value Mack above Wilson, Rodgers, etc? Hell no but we are talking about a QB who, while he shows glimpses of that elite potential, also shows a tendency to be way too aggressive and careless causing him to throw too many picks / fumble / get hurt.

He still has a lot of growth to do and some healthy seasons to prove before we start giving him elite QB value. Right now I have him at “very good” QB value, and the top edge player in the league is worth slightly more than that imo.

All these sub arguments are me saying good pass rush is arguably just as important as a good QB, but IM not trying to say there’s one way to success. What I’m saying is if Mack gets you a lot closer to having an elite pass rush, he can have just as much impact as a QB who has varied between excellent and overly risky levels of play.

    The rivalry is back on

I don’t think the OL piece was lucky. Ballard did a great job there trading down from 3 and getting the pick that ultimately ended up being the guy who was probably the better rookie OL (Braden Smith), and then they coached him up to be a legit starting RT, which I was very skeptical of.

(Leonard was actually picked with the Jets pick, but I’m assuming they would have still taken him with their second rounder if they don’t make the trade)

Add in getting Mark Glowinski off waivers from Seattle and developing him, I think there was a lot more to it than “they lucked into getting Q”, although that certainly helped

Also, the “Mack didn’t do shit vs Philly” argument is stupid becuase Bears defense played excellent in that game. THe Eagles focusing on him allowed a lot of other players to shine. That loss is on the Bears offense and special teams failing to execute in the red zone.
