serious answer: i think they base it on the previous season's played records (although i think that depends on when / if the draft takes place before the lockout season or not). i think that's kind of how hockey did it the year the Penguins got Crosby (noting that it's not as cut and dry as the NFL, they take the worst teams and each team has a chance at the #1 pick, but the worse your record, the higher your percentage chance)

 

Jets trading for Brown would be pretty dope.

I wonder if they go for Bell too. I think the Jets and Colts are both capable of acquiring both players.

 

Although the Colts don’t really need Brown because Luck will make anyone good. Jets getting Brown. Colts getting Bell. That’d be fun.

I really want to see the Colts use FA in a meaningful way this year. I don’t even need Bell, but a couple supplementary, actually good pieces would be awesome

Something like upgrading the other safety spot to someone like HaHa, Collins, or Earl, or taking a flier on a pass rusher that hits FA, or a WR more substantial than Ryan freaking Grant

 

I'm telling you, Colts should just overpay the fuck out of whoever they want

Yeah, although they’re playing the system like it should be played for long-term growth and I can’t fault them for that at all/ I’m sure it’ll continue this offseason — hoard a ton of cap space and carry it over, draft your core, extend the guys who are too good to find in FA with front loaded deals with your abundance of carried over cap space

 

This is weirdly backwards. Colts have Mack already, while having nothing at WR after Hilton. Give him Brown and he could do the Brady/Moss type season

 

That strategy is basically the counter to the “you can’t have a high paid QB and a good roster” argument, so gotta take advantage before a new CBA potentially takes it away

 

It’s amazing how many of y’all are talking about ruining the league but sound excited about it
