That would be awesome. Better game and built in geographic rivalry. It’s just unfortunate that ND keeps being taken seriously as a program despite not really showing any difference from previous seasons where they’ve been a joke in games like this. Amazing the reputation still plays so big when they haven’t won a championship in 30 years, and haven’t been a formidable program consistently for over 40.
The past doesn’t matter, tho. It’s about this year. Going undefeated is hard to do, no matter who you are. They deserve some respect, even if no one thinks they would win.
There’s a human element to the selection committee though. If no one thinks they have a chance to win, then bring in someone who you do think has a chance
Interesting They were doing some weird overthinky stuff that pretty much "we definitely aren't as good as the team we're playing"
“Following the Wolverines' Peach Bowl loss to the Gators on Saturday in Atlanta, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh stressed that there won't be any significant adjustments. "I think we're going to take what we have and reload a new season and tighten up and keep working to put it over the top," he told reporters.” Keep doing what you’re already doing. Sounds like he’s finally figured out a way to avoid those late season meltdowns!
Idk about that. With the human element, I would think most people wouldn’t expect their 3rd and 4th choice to win it all.
My dad keeps telling me how this was the biggest complaint about Tom Osbourne. He could never win the big games, but now after winning 3 titles, he’s regarded as one of the best coaches ever.
I bet tommy was willing to make changes to address previous failures, though. You don’t win three without making those kinds of changes, especially against the ol ball coach in 96!
Even if Notre Dame is undefeated again they should never be selected for the playoff - a fraud of a program
The difference between Notre Dame and lucky charms? Only one belongs in a bowl. Just saw that three seconds ago and it was immediately fitting.
