Yeah, it's kind of deceptive. We had 3 people leave that had started at different points, but 4 of the 5 guys have starting experience. The right tackle is a transfer from UMass, which you think wouldn't mean much transferring to a big SEC school, but our o-line coach said, verbatim:
Gotcha. Well it should be a fun one. I obviously hope Washington wins but if they don't, I'll be content as long as it's close. I'd love to see them get back to the playoff but once there, it'll be a repeat of 2016 so I'm actually probably more hoping for a Rose Bowl appearance against a B10 squad. UW has to get bigger in the trenches before they can play with the playoff squads and they're getting there with their last recruting class or two but just not quite yet. OH...and Jake Browning too lol. He isn't good.
Yeah, it'll be awesome if Auburn wins, but this isn't a make or break game for them. Auburn never starts off well, it just leaves no room for error for the rest of the season if they want to sniff the playoff. It's funny that Washington fans don't like Browning. He's viewed as a huge problem and threat to most Auburn fans, right up there with Gaskin.
I've been wondering that, what is the leash on Jake browning? Or is Peterson content sticking by him no matter what?
He's Petersen's guy. Outside of getting hurt, nothing is going to get him removed. I get it, he's going to break every UW passing record this year and that's great but he's just so physically limiting and doesn't handle pressure well at all. At least it's the last year and then it's Eason szn. Browning is incredibly smart and very good short to intermediate but he has a really bad deep ball and shits his pants under pressure worse than just about every starting QB coming to my mind. That's what makes me nervous about this game is your DL. Get pressure on Browning and he will give it up or take huge losses. Gaskin is a beast though but the two names that'll play a big part in the game on Saturday outside of him for UW....Salvon Ahmed and Chico McClatcher.
Yea, I would definitely be curious about seeing Eason if browning shits it up but... like you said, not sure that'll happen
Eason isn't eligible. He has to sit this year out as a transfer. The backup, Jake Haener hasn't taken a snap in a meaningful game which kinda makes Browning the guy by default
Oh no, this doesn't bode well. Auburn's d line last year was crazy but they might be even better this year depth wise. Nick Coe playing our buck (elite pass rusher) is a big player to watch for us, and on offense, I really hope Nate Craig-Myers can break out for the receiving group. So talented, but he just hasn't been given the opportunity.
Yup. He was easily the most impressive QB in camp but his snaps were very limited because he has to sit the year out so he wasn't given a ton of work. UW is going to be really good this year regardless of tomorrow's outcome but 2019 could be a special year.
It's really a lot better than it has been. Jacob Eason left Georgia because he lost his starting job...not like there was a hardship or anything like that.
No doubt it's better, I just think players should be able to play right away especially if it's not even to a team in your conference
I'd like to see the transfer rules cleaned up, but I don't think I want to see players be able to transfer at will and play right away. It's enough time commitment to coach and recruit. To then have to be constantly recruiting your own players to stay does not sound appealing. I want to be pro-student, but something about completely opening it up sounds like a bad idea to me.
Re: transfer rules: if your coach leaves or is fired you should be eligible to transfer and play immediately. Kids shouldn’t be shackled to a University they chose because of who the coach was. (Choose based on the school not coach! Unfortunately it rarely happens that way). Also: ncaa is garbage and so is urban Meyer (and about 100 other coaches).
Buuuuttttt. WMU hosting Syracuse tonight and would love to see a broncos win. Edit: no idea how hosting autocorrected to boston.
