Until players are appropriately compensated, more games under any circumstances would be a loss for players.
There are TONS of bowl games with competitive matches. Throwing more teams at Bame and Clemson to blow out doesn't sound fun.
Bowl games are meaningless and we will see more and more players abstain from the unnecessary risk. Make the games mean something. But also yes, compensation.
For most of history, bowl games were just exhibition games that didn’t amean anything anyway. I think having 40 bowls games a season waters them down and theyd have more value if we went back to ~10 in addition to the cfp. I know I’m not watching the 6-6 and 6-7 teams play.
Yeah, paying players would have the most affect on recruiting, and would probably spread the wealth of recruits around the most.
This is stupid. Recruiting rankings last year: 1) UGA 2) Ohio St 3) Texas 4) USC 5) Alabama 6) Penn St 7) Clemson 8) Miami 9) Oklahoma 10) Notre Dame To date this year: 1) Alabama 2) Georgia 3) Texas A&M 4) LSU 5) Clemson 6) Oregon 7) Oklahoma 8) Michigan 9) Texas 10) Penn St They recruit consistently well, sure, but players aren’t stopping going to the other big power 5 schools because of Alabama and Clemson An 8 team playoff isn’t gonna make those rankings look any different
What about the fact that we haven’t seen a season where even four teams are good enough to be in the hunt? If you look at the playoff semifinals each year, there are always blowouts.
Yeah haha I don’t think it’s a reason to NOT expand. I just don’t think it suddenly makes the gap between Alabama and the rest of the league smaller either
