i don't mind bud or giannis' comments about not making adjustments for the next game. you'll 100% take norman powell shooting 13 threes a game and gasol/ibaka taking basically as many shots as kawhi. numbers say last night won't happen two more times if they do that. i would like to hear something about them with the rebounding issues and re: bledsoe, but i don't think the defensive gameplan was awful. there were dumb plays, that middleton foul specifically, but the gameplan was sound.

Have a feeling if we miss on Kemba, Ed Davis, etc, we are definitely going to end up overspending on a UFA rather than taking our losses and trying to sing people on flexible contracts for when we will have even more potential cap space next year or the year after (granted those FA classes look pretty weak)

 

This is all a great highlight on why I was really questionable about the Porzingis trade at first (obviously before the story broke). I feel like the team is just creating more contract hell at this point.

 

Definitely, assuming we sign Porzingis (which seems like an absolutely terrible decision on all fronts right now), we basically have to land a big FA after the 19/20 season and that FA class is awful. I honestly worry there is some chance that Luka does what Porzingis does if we do not have a franchise on the way up after next season. Mavs have never proved that we can actually compete in the free agent market and I find it hard to believe that will change with teams like NYK, BKN, etc. that have way more cap space than we do.
