Nothing really new here, just a little more insight on things we already knew.

* Kyrie never wanted to play with LeBron (pretty obvious)
* LeBron's wife spent more time in LA this past offseason than any other and really fell in love with LA
* Had last year's PG/Bledsoe to Cle trade(s) been finalized, may have changed LeBron situation (well, duh)
* Wade had major role in locker room chaos - 'irreparable harm'
* Cavs wanted to draft Embiid in 2014, thought he was a HOF talent, but medical team wouldn't clear him (wouldn't have mattered, would have traded him to Wolves anyway)
* Ty Lue won't be fired and is looking forward to less pressure, dictate how a team plays...

 

I think the level of which LeBron and Kyrie did not like each other was interesting. And the fact that LeBron was sort of hazing Kyrie at first never allowed that relationship to take off and that Kyrie never even wanted to play with someone like LeBron could have been inferred after at a few points, but it was never directly said.

I think for someone who lives outside of the Cleveland area it's a good way to get caught up on how deep the chaos and animosity ran. To each their own.

Is Doncic and MPJ playing in summer league?

 

I believe Doncic is getting rest until training camp due to the amount of games he played professionally and on the world stage. I think there is also a minor injury he is recovering from as well.

Edit: I would be shocked if we see MPJ this season, let alone in summer league this weekend. You draft him as a long-term play similar to Embiid.

 

Doncic isn't playing, he hasn't a true offseason in like 3 years with international play.

 

A couple of the knocks on Doncic is the lack of athleticism and overall strength. I think if the Mavs can put him on a good dieting and strength program, along with keeping up with the shots in the gym that there is a good amount of upside there. I'm not saying he will become an athletic specimen, but given his game schedules over the years, I think there is more to tap into there now that you can take time to focus on it. And having someone like Dirk in his ear telling what to do and not do can only help as well.

 

I'm sure he can get stronger and more athletic but I don't really think it matters. You don't have to be Westbrook or you suck. Harden isn't very "athletic" either. He can run in transition, change direction, has "explosiveness," get to the rim, even post up pretty well for a wing.

Melo wants to play for a contender, but any team where Melo plays significant minutes can’t, by definition, be a contender.

Honestly I’m for it, as Ben Dubose mentioned it would increase the variance on how high or low this team could go. Everyone is facing Goliath anyways (GSW). Be bold and just see how it goes. Almost worked last year with getting Paul. Everyone said that wouldn’t work.

 

Paul is still a quality player though, melo could be washed
