    Just a friendly reminder

Just looked it up. Jerry took the Clippers job in June 2017 and Jim was fired in February 2017 so they could have done it man.

First of all, he could've already had a backdoor agreement with balmer before June.

Second, 4 months to come up with a vision for a directionless organization after becoming controlling owner for the first time isn't that easy.

Third, the clippers job was still way better than the lakers so who can blame him

Yeah, this is fair. I think mostly everyone expected Boston to be a top 1 or 2 seed in the East and there were many people, including myself, who truly thought there was a chance LA wouldn't even make the playoffs. I don't think anyone had LA pegged as a top team in the West given who and what they surrounded (or didn't surround) LeBron with.

Yup. Plus, all the Lakers needed to do this season was just make the playoffs. They had some low expectations, even with LeBron there.

  8. I want the Lakers to beat the Celtics again, just because even them not making the playoffs will make that funny.

I hope LeBron and Kyrie get into an all-out brawl Saturday night.

  10. This has worked out great for the Cavs. They've become sorta fun again late on but are still probably pretty likely to stay third worst

At this point, the only real virtue of tanking is to mitigate your worst case scenario. So, for instance, the bottom two teams are guaranteed a top 5 pick. The #3 team’s odds fall to like 96% odds of a top 5 pick.

So the utility in being worse than other teams is that you won’t fall as far, as opposed to securing greater odds of moving up.

It’s why the Bulls should seriously try to get from 4th to 3rd. And why they really shouldn’t slip from 4th to 5th worst.

I thought the new system was each team's worst case scenario was to fall 4 slots back. So the No. 1 pick can now fall to No. 5 (used to only be No. 4), and the No. 2 pick can fall to No. 6 and the No. 3 pick can now fall to No. 7 and so on and so on.

Yeah, only the bottom team is guaranteed a top 5 pick:

    NBA draft lottery - Wikipedia.

The second worst record still has a 20% chance of getting the 6th pick
The third worst has a 7% chance at getting 7th pick.

The link I posted has a chart if you scroll down.

Yeah that’s correct. I got that wrong. I misread a graphic that had the previous odds for a top 5 pick listed. And my eye just kinda caught that and it stuck.

I’m gonna choose blame sloppy graph drafting and not my own reading comprehension.

I can't wait until someone writes something about the "he's never coached a player like me" part of that statement, and then Kyrie inevitably freaks out about the media making him unhappy again.
