Here’s my question:

What NBA superstar - or even star for that matter - is going to sign a contract with the Lakers knowing LeBron is going into his 17th season at 35-years-old in the dreaded Western Conference?


I can maybe see someone signing a 1 and 1, but they’d be brain dead to sign a 4-year max.

 

As great as LeBron is and as awesome as it would be to play on his team....I wouldn't join him at this point. I'd enjoy, maybe, a pickup game with him haha. Yeah, he's still probably the best in the world, but he clearly has other things on his mind/plate other than basketball. Also, the past two-three seasons really exposed what kind of leader he is and has become in this shifting NBA culture. I, personally, would not want to play with anyone like that, especially since other teams have caught up and developed at this point. I'm not trying to dig at him, but its obvious his way of leadership is something I would never gravitate towards or buy into.

I feel bad for one of my best friends who is born and raised a Lakers fan. He was always conflicted about LeBron coming to LA. Excited and nervous at first about it, but now all he wants is for him to leave. My friend's basketball life is in shambles right now haha.

 

How though?

 

His dad worked for the organization for years/is from LA so he grew up in a laker household since day one. Also a big UCLA family.

Out of all the situations I can imagine feeling bad for a fan "your insanely popular team with tons of championships and some young talents just got the greatest player of all time and it's not going that well" is not one of them
