I wish I knew what it was like to root for a team that had a future

I fell asleep on my couch at 9 and ended up missing the end of Sac/Denver (which I was watching at the time) and GS/Portland. Being old is not much fun.

So my wife and I had valentine's day dinner last night. I shit you not, a good 30% of our conversation was about how bad we feel for you and how bad the Pistons are and if we could keep rooting for Detroit teams if we were from there because of how bleak it is.

Gores has run this team into the ground in hopes of being an 8 seed. It's so depressing. Like, that interview with hims saying Drummond should be an all-star because "he gets double doubles and stuff" was just so deflating. We have no young pieces to build around, consistently pick in the worst spots in the draft, and miss on every draft pick we make, or they go somewhere else and become fantastic (Middleton/Dinwiddie)

That title feels like it was a century ago.

What’s Kerr gonna do when KD leaves?

It's only been four games, and no one gives a shit, but I'm liking what I see out of Marquese Chriss since joining the Cavs.

I like Chriss, but I'm not sure he's back after this year. Either way, the next year or so will be interesting for them. The cap projection is $118M and luxury tax at $143M. The Cavs, even with JR Smith being cut, are at $124.8M for 2019-20. The interesting thing is that almost all of that is huge expiring contracts for Knight, Clarkson, Delly, Henson, and Tristan. Still, that one year kind of hinders them from considering keeping some of the younger guys like Chriss, Nwaba (restricted) and Stauskas.

As a Suns fan...all I see when I look at Marquese Chriss is the fact that Sarver traded Bogdan Bogdanovic for him after holding Bogdan's rights for 2+ years.

I like this quote from Draymond regarding Kerr standing up for him after the questionable flagrant call: "I loved that, too. That was amazing. It's great. He set the tone for us to close the game the way we did. It was good." Maybe Draymond is learning sarcasm?

Allen got there late but still got his hand on the ball and Chriss just went right through him

granted i don't know what you or your wife look like, but i'm picturing two people nicely dressed in a quiet, candle lit restaurant sitting across from each other both with their heads in their hands, looking down shaking their heads in disbelief whispering, "how? how...? how can he go on rooting for such a team? my god... so, dessert?"

In complete fairness we were at an Indian restaurant where the Celtics-Pistons game just happened to be on on a TV in the corner hahaha so it wasn't unprompted. But also, the situation you described would totally happen as well. I bet anything we've done that before.

  22. Lol just saw a story that NFL owners trying to poach Silver to be NFL commissioner? What a step down that would be for him

  23. ncarrab

    Prestigious Supporter

Oh, I don't think he'll be back, I'm just saying, I didn't really have any expectations for him but he's been playing pretty well. Again, very small sample size.

2020 will be an interesting year for the Cavs because a lot of big money comes off the books, plus all those guys you mentioned will be major trade chips at the deadline next year.

It would be hilarious if NFL owners convinced Silver to go over and then Silver immediately began holding NFL owners accountable and forcing sales

    But yeah there's 0 chance that's even a possibility
