Interested to see what the Sixers' cap situation will be like if Butler walks and Harris stays

Detriot at least has a G-league team where they can send Maker to develop if he's not getting time in the NBA.

I definitely would let Butler walk. Harris is very underrated, not max contract, but still very underrated. I miss him on the Pistons

Stanley is a great defender, that'll help the Bucks in the playoffs

Haha shit, is that new? I thought they were one of the handful without one.

He could have done that in Milwaukee but the whole reason he wanted the trade is because he wanted more NBA minutes. Seeing him play on the G League team for one of the worst teams in the NBA would be a bit hilarious tbh given his situation in Milwaukee.

Tbh I'd let Butler walk in a heartbeat.

In their second season I believe.

  13. Stanley is trash offensively but he would see the floor in the playoffs strictly because of his defense.

Idk what we do with Thon

I'm not against that but it's wayyyy to early to make that call right now

This lineup has too much potential

I had no idea haha. Well, I guess he probably just doesn't have a place in the league. Maybe he'll get more time with a worse team? I dunno. Johnson could be a decent pick up for the Bucks though. Pretty low stakes trade for both teams.

I know you don't want a completely depleted bench, but every year we always see how that matters less in the playoffs. Those guys get fewer minutes. The teams that are praised about their bench always end up getting burnt it seems.

by this token no team should ever make any trades because the Warriors are bound to win it all

That's not what I'm saying at all

Don't mortgage your future on a move to win it all when you have no shot is my only point. And this Warriors team is unbeatable in the playoffs this year in my opinion.

Assumption is KD leaves this summer and they'll come back down to earth next year. If there's a time to strike, it would be next season instead of moving valuable pieces to make a move this season when it's nearly impossible.

Especially when the asset you get in return, could end up being a disaster in the future if they max him out. Do you think Tobi is worth a max contract or close to it? By the tail end of his contract, he'll probably be making close to $30mm and historically those contracts haven't fared very well. At least that's how I look at it but again, what the fuck do I know?

    Oh I agree, I guess I just don't think he's worth a max deal.

in 5 years every half decent player is going to be making $30 million/year with the way the league is going so I'm not sure theyre concerned about that

did they really "mortgage their future"? Most of their team is 26 and under

Definitely this. Sure the Celtics are/were deep but is anyone besides Kyrie that scary? Even if Kyrie is the best player between the two teams does Kyrie/Horford/Smart/Tatum really trump Simmons/Embiid/Butler/Harris? I’m not so sure

In terms of future flexibility, I would say mortgage their future

Simmons is about to get maxed out. Embiid is already maxed out. If they have Butler and Tobi - they're cap situation is completely fucked. They'd be tied down with zero flexibility to improve the roster. I just think by the tail end of that contract, it could end up looking really bad for the Sixers. Just my perception of the deal but I could be wrong

I don't think every half decent player is going to be making $30mm in 5 years and should definitely be a concern in my opinion. It's a short sighted move. Time will tell

At least they didn't give out a 1st round pick to get Jimmy too so they should at least have their own picks going forward
