It’s pretty clear DSJ doesn’t fit very well with Luka. It makes sense to move on while you can sell high on his potential instead of waiting for problems to arise.

Selling high is fine and all...but we also have no JJ Barea, and it feels a lot like giving up on the season to let DSJ go right now when our 2 point guards would be Jalen Brunson (who has been fine but idk about starter quality) and Devin Harris (ew). Idk if I'm ready to give up on the season yet, and idk if I'm willing to give up on DSJ yet either. IMO it would make more sense to ride it out and sell slightly lower + try and win enough games to sneak into the playoffs than to give up now for probably not that much more.

It sounds like Phoenix isn't actually interested in Dennis Smith, leaving Orlando and Detroit as possible suitors. I wouldn't mind seeing Orlando take a flier on him, though it depends what the trade specifics are. Moving one of Gordon or Isaac would suck, but I'm also not sure they work well together as both are better-suited for the 4 spot. Mo Bamba becomes a little more expendable if they decide they want to try and re-sign Vucevic this summer. I'm guessing Detroit would include Stanley Johnson for sure, and probably Reggie Jackson if Dallas added another pricier player. Some places are reporting they want to package Wesley Matthews in the deal, too.

Apparently DSJ likely requested the trade himself so I take it back

Sorry Rick I should have never doubted you

It floors me that the Denver Nuggets are first in the West. Admittedly, I haven't watched any of their games this season (I don't have League pass) but like, what's their secret? Just insanely good scouting? Or very lucky drafting? Players all developing at once? If you look at their top 4 or 5 guys, Jokic was a mid-second rounder, Murray No. 7 overall, Harris No. 19, Monte a late second rounder, Beasley No. 19.

They aren't a free agency destination, nor have they had high draft picks. They're just, all of a sudden good?

    Pretty impressive.

They technically drafted Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell, too. Lol

  11. The secret seems to be Jokic being the literal second coming of Sabonis.

Player development #1 and #2 getting adequate defense. This team has been able to score for years but couldn't stop a nosebleed, right now they're in the top 10 in DEF RTG. That player development has turned them into a very deep team as we've played like 3 games all season with our intended starting lineup

DSJ and others for Aaron Gordon sounds fun.

Luka and Aaron together sounds really fun

Of course if we do that we probably don’t get Giannis

While Denver is probably never on the mind of the absolute top tier free agents, they did land Paul Milsap in free agency recently. Not exactly a nobody.

Colorado is just a cool place to be. But please, don't move here. You wouldn't like it.

I imagine he's the most likely of their young front court guys to be moved since the current front office didn't draft him. However, as a Magic fan he's the one I'd least like to lose.

I don’t see how a DSJ - AG trade works. The salary difference is too great and Dallas doesn’t really have any ballast to make up the difference.

You need a third team involved and that’s always tricky.

Only way I could see it is if the Mavericks were also offering Wes Matthews, in which case the Mavs would probably have to offer picks as well. No way do the Magic take on Wes without also getting a good gain.

I’m gonna be perfectly honest I completely forgot that his contract was that big. My bad lol.

Yeah once Deandre Jordan ran away we pretty much threw all our money at him haha, definitely not ideal

Matthews is an expiring contract, so I could see that being potentially appealing. Though, I also think Orlando is delusional if they think they're going to be a big free-agent player any time soon, so that flexibility might be pointless.

Apparently Smith was a no-show at practice today, citing an "illness." I wonder if he gets moved sooner than later.
